Background: TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1) is an important serine/threonine kinase involved in inflammatory signaling pathways, influencing cellular processes such as proliferation, programmed cell death, autophagy, and immune response regulation. Dysregulation of TBK1 has been linked to cancer progression and neurodegenerative disorders, making it an attractive target for therapeutic development. This study aimed to identify potential TBK1 inhibitors using a structure-based virtual screening approach.

Friendships can positively impact students' academic performance and grade point average (GPA) by providing emotional support and reducing stress, thereby leading to improved focus and better concentration on studies. Peer connections and friendships often result in collaborative learning and the exchange of academic ideas, improving comprehension and retention of course materials, ultimately leading to higher GPAs. In contrast, negative friendships or excessive social distractions can adversely affect GPA, which highlights the importance of striking a fine balance between social connections and academic responsibilities.

This overview of systematic reviews (OoSRs) aimed, firstly, to systematically review, summarize, and appraise the findings of published systematic reviews with or without meta-analyses that investigate the effects of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) on post-exercise recovery of muscle damage biomarkers, muscle soreness, and muscle performance. The secondary objective was to re-analyze and standardize the results of meta-analyses using the random-effects Hartung-Knapp-Sidik-Jonkman (HKSJ) method. The methodological quality of the reviews was assessed using A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2.

Biotreatment of oily sludge and the involved microbial communities, particularly in saline environments, have been rarely investigated. We enriched a halophilic bacterial consortium (OS-100) from petroleum refining oily sludge, which degraded almost 86% of the aliphatic hydrocarbon (C-C) fraction of the oily sludge within 7 days in the presence of 100 g/L NaCl. Two halophilic hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria related to the genera Chromohalobacter and Halomonas were isolated from the OS-100 consortium.

Introduction Patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU), especially those with devices used to support their condition, are at a higher risk of getting healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The aim of the present study was to analyze the surveillance data and assess the device-associated infection (DAI) rates such as central line-associated blood-stream infection (CLABSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI), ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and ventilator-associated event (VAE) in ICUs of the Ministry of Health (MoH) hospitals in Al-Ahsa region. Methodology The study was conducted retrospectively using the surveillance data of governmental hospitals' intensive care units in the Al-Ahsa region.

Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is a well-established neurosurgical intervention in patients with high intracranial pressure who fail to respond to medical treatment. Data on predictive factors for functional outcomes in patients with DC who have malignant middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarction as opposed to intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) are scarce. Eighty-four patients who underwent DC treatment for ICH and malignant MCA infarction were examined.
