Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is routinely offered to operable locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients desirous of breast conservation surgery and inoperable LABC patients. Pathological complete response (pCR) following chemotherapy is recognized as a surrogate for survival outcomes in high grade tumour subtypes. Many biological and tumor characters have been shown to predict pCR.

Background: Traditional sub-fascial anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps are bulky and often give unsatisfactory outcomes in several head and neck reconstructions where thin pliable flaps are required. As a result, despite high incidence of donor site complications, radial forearm flap is still commonly used for tongue, buccal mucosa and lip defects where a traditional ALT flap would be too bulky. The objective of this report was to evaluate the usefulness of super-thin ALT flap as an alternative to radial forearm flap for intra-oral reconstruction.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has rapidly spread across the globe since its first detection in March 2020. Its widespread manifestations and vascular complications are increasingly being reported even in young and middle-aged patients. Hyperinflammation is a continuum of host's exaggerated inflammatory response representing cytokine dysregulation/storm which produces coagulopathy and vascular endothelial dysfunction, apart from a prothrombotic state.

Background: There is limited current knowledge on feasibility and safety of kidney transplantation in coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) survivors.
Methods: We present a retrospective cohort study of 75 kidney transplants in patients who recovered from polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-confirmed COVID-19 performed across 22 transplant centers in India from July 3, 2020, to January 31, 2021. We detail demographics, clinical manifestations, immunosuppression regimen, laboratory findings, treatment, and outcomes.

Background: Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are among the most frequent healthcare-associated infections in the world. They are associated with increased mortality, prolonged hospital stay and increased healthcare costs. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the noble metal alloy (NMA) coated BIP Foley Catheter in preventing the incidence of symptomatic CAUTI in a large cohort of patients in India.

In a resource-limited country like India, rationing of scarce critical care resources might be required to ensure appropriate delivery of care to the critically ill patients suffering from COVID-19 infection. Most of these patients require critical care support because of respiratory failure or presence of multiorgan dysfunction syndrome. As there is no pharmacological therapy available, respiratory support in the form of supplemental oxygen, noninvasive ventilation, and invasive mechanical ventilation remains mainstay of care in intensive care units.

With more than 23 million infections and more than 814,000 deaths worldwide, the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is still far from over. Several classes of drugs including antivirals, antiretrovirals, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antibiotics have been tried with varying levels of success. Still, there is lack of any specific therapy to deal with this infection.

Background And Aim: Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS) is an uncommon benign disorder of defecation. Management of ulcers is usually unsatisfactory with conventional treatment (laxatives, behavioral therapy, biofeedback, topical treatments, and surgery). Studies on the effectiveness of argon plasma coagulation (APC) for SRUS refractory to conventional treatment is lacking.

Aims And Objectives: To study "Honeycomb" pattern of gallbladder wall thickening (GBWT) in dengue fever (DF) and to assess its clinical significance in early diagnosis of severe DF.
Materials And Methods: A total 244 patients of DF were studied, 84 patients were classified as severe DF, 61 patients as DF with warning signs, and 99 patients as DF without warning signs. Abdominal ultrasound was performed for assessment of GBWT patterns, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, pancreatic enlargement, ascites, pleural effusion, and other additional findings were recorded in severe DF cases.

The unprecedented epidemic spread of chikungunya worldwide illustrates the critical need for potent vaccines and therapeutic interventions. The morbidity and mortality associated with this arboviral infection has become a major public health problem in many countries across different continents. Increasing public-private partnerships have opened new avenues in research and development of vaccines.

Objectives: Magnetic resonance imaging has proven to be a valuable tool in the assessment of disc abnormalities. Two types of disc extrusion can be described according to the direction of herniated disc material: shoulder type and axillary type. Axillary disc herniation is described when the extruded disc fragment lies in the recess between the lateral border of cauda equina and medial to the nerve roots, while in the shoulder type the disc lies lateral to the nerve roots.

Advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment is primarily based on platinum-based chemotherapy. Although epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) targeting has shifted the treatment paradigm toward personalized tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance develops inevitably and EGFR T790M is the most common acquired resistance mechanism. Rebiopsy of resistant NSCLC cases can provide additional information on the underlying resistant mechanisms and therefore can help clinicians in taking better management decisions.

Background And Objective: Modern sulfonylureas like glimepiride offer effective glycemic control with extrapancreatic benefits and good tolerability. The objective of the present study was to evaluate and compare safety and efficacy of glimepiride and sitagliptin in combination with metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: In this open-label, randomized, comparative, multicenter study, a total of 305 T2DM patients who were either drug naïve or uncontrolled on metformin were randomized to glimepiride 1 or 2 mg/sustained-release metformin 1000 mg once daily (glimepiride group, = 202) or sitagliptin 50 mg/metformin 500 mg twice daily (sitagliptin group, = 103) for 12 weeks.

Objectives: To evaluate, in the FLEX Registry, clinical outcomes of an ultrathin (60 µm) biodegradable polymer-coated Supraflex sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) for the treatment of coronary artery disease. Additionally, to determine the vascular response to the Supraflex SES through optical coherence tomography (OCT) analysis.
Setting: Multicentre, single-arm, all-comers, observational registry of patients who were treated with the Supraflex SES, between July 2013 and May 2014, at nine different centres in India.

Introduction: Coronary artery disease is the most common catastrophic disease in India. The safety and effectiveness of dual vessel sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) implantation (used as an intervention in CAD) is currently unknown in Indian population. The purpose of this study was to investigate one year clinical outcomes of patients with dual vessel coronary artery disease after implantation of the Supralimus-Core SES, in a "real-world" setting.

We describe our experience of first 50 consecutive hematopoietic stem-cell transplants (HSCT) done between 2007 and 2012 at the Apollo Hospital, Gandhinagar, 35 autologous HSCT and 15 allogeneic HSCT. Indications for autologous transplant were multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and acute myeloid leukemia, and indications for allogeneic transplants were thalassemia major, aplastic anaemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, and acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukaemia. The median age of autologous and allogeneic patient's cohort was 50 years and 21 years, respectively.
