This study evaluated initial antihypertensive drug prescription patterns in Indian healthcare settings. An observational, cross-sectional, prospective prescription registry analyzed prescriptions for 4723 newly diagnosed hypertension patients. Additionally, it investigated the extent to which physicians adhered to either European or Indian hypertension guidelines.

Introduction: Small and medium sized primary midline ventral hernias are best treated by pre-peritoneal mesh placement. This helps in prevention of complications related to intra-peritoneal mesh placement. The challenges we face while performing laparoscopic transabdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) procedure can be overcome by robot-assisted TAPP (rTAPP), and we present our initial experience with the same.

A Randomized, Double-Blind, Parallel-Group Phase III Trial Investigating the Glycemic Efficacy and Safety Profile of Fixed-Dose Combination Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin Over Linagliptin Monotherapy in Patients with Inadequately Controlled Type 2 Diabetes with Metformin.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combination (FDC) of dapagliflozin (10 mg) and linagliptin (5 mg) in comparison to linagliptin 5 mg (Trajenta) in patients with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on metformin monotherapy.

Methods: The double-blind, randomized, multicentric, parallel-group phase III trial screened 287 adult patients with T2DM (age 18-65 years) from 16 sites across India. The recruited subjects were undergoing metformin monotherapy ≥ 1000 mg/day for at least 28 days.

Dose at posterior-inferior border of symphysis point: A predictor for vaginal stricture in cervical cancer.

Purpose: To study the effect of various dose-volume parameters on the severity of vaginal stricture (VS) and the correlation of the latter with the posterior-inferior border of symphysis (PIBS) points in locally advanced cervical cancer patients treated with concurrent chemoradiation and brachytherapy.

Methods And Materials: A prospective study was done on 45 histologically proven locally advanced cervical cancer patients between January 2020 and March 2021. All of them were treated with concurrent chemoradiation with 6 MV photon linear accelerator to a dose of 45 Gy/25 fractions in 5 weeks.

Rituximab biosimilar for the treatment of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: a phase 3 randomized study in India.

Purpose: Very few studies have demonstrated the rituximab biosimilarity in terms of efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in India. Therefore, we compared the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and immunogenicity of our biosimilar rituximab with the reference rituximab (Ristova, Roche products [India] Pvt. Ltd) in patients with DLBCL in India.

A prospective randomized comparison of simultaneous integrated boost with sequential boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy in locally advanced head and neck cancer.

Introduction: Biochemical recurrence (BCR) is widely used as an early end point to assess treatment success and frequently prompts the initiation of secondary therapy after radical prostatectomy. We conducted an observational, ambispective study to evaluate BCR after robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for clinically localized prostate cancer. We also analyzed correlation of BCR with pre-operative PSA level, D'Amico classification, pathological stage, post-operative GS, and positive surgical margins after RARP.

Objective: The effect of lycopene (LycoRed) supplementation was evaluated in healthy postmenopausal women by biochemical markers for cardiovascular protection and osteoporosis protection.

Study Settings And Design: This was a multi-centric placebo-controlled double-blind randomized clinical trial that screened 198 postmenopausal women at 21 centers across 12 cities in India. Levels of lycopene, lipid profile, high-risk C-reactive protein, and bone turnover markers: amino-terminal propeptide of Type I collagen (P1NP) and C-terminal telopeptide of Type I collagen (β-CTx) were measured at baseline and 6 months postsupplementation with LycoRed or placebo.

Repair of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcal (MRSA) chronic osteomyelitis and resulting bone defect is one of the major challenges in orthopaedics. Previous study has shown the effectiveness of antibiotic loaded biodegradable composite bone cement with in vitro tests and in the treatment of experimental osteomyelitis. The cement is composed of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) encapsulated antibiotic-biphasic calcium phosphate granule complex and additive antibiotic powder in gypsum binder.

The Islet De-stress Hypothesis: A potential explanation for the gluco metabolic effects of ketogenic diet.

Introduction: The role of hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFRT) in postmastectomy breast cancer patients is not well established. This study was done to establish the role of two different HFRT schedules in the treatment of chest wall and regional lymph nodes after mastectomy.
