Objectives: To evaluate the impact of intraoperative upper urinary tract (UUT) cytology examination in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) who had undergone transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 414 patients with NMIBC who had undergone transurethral resection of bladder tumor between November 1993 and April 2019. Patients with simultaneous UUT urothelial carcinoma (UC) detected via computed tomography were excluded.

Objectives: To validate the substratification of high-risk in the European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines and to develop the simplified substratification to improve usefulness and predictive accuracy on oncological outcomes in patients with primary high-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 428 patients with primary high-risk NMIBC who underwent TURBT from November 1993 to April 2019. First, the efficacy of the EAU highest-risk on intravesical recurrence-free survival (RFS) and muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC)-free survival was evaluated with univariate analyses.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of radiation therapy (RT) to the primary tumor in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included 105 patients with mCRPC who were treated between April 2004 and May 2019. We divided the patients into 2 groups: patients treated with RT to the primary tumor after they developed CRPC (RT group) and without (non-RT group).

Objectives: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intensive intravesical instillation of low-dose pirarubicin (THP) for 6 times vs. bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) without maintenance therapy after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) in patients with primary high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 370 patients with primary high-risk NMIBC who underwent TURBT from November 1993 to April 2019.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of preoperative chronic kidney disease (CKD) on the prognosis of patients with primary non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 434 patients with primary NMIBC who underwent TURBT from November 1993 to April 2019. The patients were divided into 2 groups: patients with preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate ≥60 ml/min/1.

We investigated the diagnostic and prognostic potential of serum N-glycan profiling for castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). We retrospectively investigated serum N-glycan structural analysis by glycoblotting for 287 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), 289 patients with newly diagnosed prostate cancer (PC), 57 patients with PC treated with androgen-deprivation therapy without disease progression (PC-ADT), and 60 patients with CRPC. N-Glycan profiling was compared between the non-CRPC (BPH, newly diagnosed PC and PC-ADT) and CRPC patients.

We describe herein a case of severe relapsed pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) concomitantly with severe pouchitis treated by tacrolimus. A 25-year-old woman had undergone proctocolectomy with construction of ileo-anal pouch surgery for refractory ulcerative colitis (UC). She first developed PG with refractory pouchitis, and infliximab (IFX) was administered to induce remission due to resistance to glucocorticoid therapy.

We aimed to investigate the impact of postoperative weight loss following radical cystectomy (RC) on patients' prognoses. RC and urinary diversion were performed in 512 consecutive patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer at our hospitals between May 1996 and July 2018. Demographic clinical information, pre- and postoperative serum albumin, hemoglobin, and weight were evaluated retrospectively at 1 month.

Primary central nervous system vasculitis (PCNSV) is an uncommon vasculitis restricted to the small- and medium-sized vessels in the brain and spinal cord. Previously, only 9 cases have been reported that initially manifested as an isolated spinal cord lesion with subsequent brain involvement, where the longest interval from the onset to brain involvement was 1 year and 11 months. We herein report the case of an isolated spinal cord lesion with subsequent brain involvement appearing seven years and five months later.

We studied the mechanisms for the possible insulinotropic action of apolipoprotein (Apo) A-I in mouse insulinoma (MIN6) cells. The effects of ApoA-I on cAMP production and glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS), and the dose dependency (ApoA-I at 5, 10, 25, and 50 μg/ml) were determined using MIN6 cells. The effects of the small-interference ribonucleic acid (siRNA) of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1(ABCA1) and Cell division control protein 42 homolog (Cdc42) on the insulinotropic action of ApoA-I was studied, as well as mRNA and protein levels of ABCA1 and Cdc42.

Background: Rhabdomyolysis involves the release of intracellular contents secondary to muscle cell injury; it generally presents with muscle pain and weakness. Although several psychotropic agents have been documented as causes of rhabdomyolysis, there are no reports of tandospirone-induced rhabdomyolysis.

Background: The prognostic benefit of regular follow-up to detect asymptomatic recurrence after radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) remains unclear. We aimed to assess whether regular follow-up to detect asymptomatic recurrence after RNU improves patient survival.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analysed 415 patients who underwent RNU for upper tract urothelial carcinoma at four hospitals between January 1995 and February 2017.

Results: Of 234 patients, 101 received NAC (NAC group) and 133 did not (Control [Ctrl] group).

Introduction: Lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LSS) is a very common disease. When the responsible level is considered to be L4/5 despite the appearance of double-level (L3/4 and L4/5) stenosis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is difficult for spinal surgeons to decide whether prophylactic decompression should be performed at the L3/4 level. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the dural sac cross-sectional area (DCSA) at the L3/4 level and clinical symptoms in patients with double-level stenosis.

Objective: Despite benefits of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), the adoption of guideline recommendations for NAC use in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) has been slow. We aimed to evaluate temporal trends in NAC use and oncological outcomes in a representative cohort of patients with MIBC.
Methods: We included 532 patients from 4 hospitals who underwent radical cystectomy (RC) for ≥ cT2 MIBC in 1996-2017.

Aim: The aim of the present study was to examine the possibility of screening apprehensive pregnant women and mothers at risk for post-partum depression from an analysis of the textual data in the Mother and Child Handbook by using the text-mining method.
Methods: Uncomplicated pregnant women (n = 58) were divided into two groups according to State-Trait Anxiety Inventory grade (high trait [group I, n = 21] and low trait [group II, n = 37]) or Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale score (high score [group III, n = 15] and low score [group IV, n = 43]). An exploratory analysis of the textual data from the Maternal and Child Handbook was conducted using the text-mining method with the Word Miner software program.

Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) plays a critical role in the development of ventricular remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Imidapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, has been shown to inhibit MMP activity. We investigated whether imidapril inhibits plasma MMP activities and attenuates ventricular remodeling in patients with AMI in comparison with enalapril.
