Purpose: The impact of untreated medial meniscus posterior root (MMPR) tear (MMPRT) during opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) remains poorly understood. This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the association between the presence of MMPRT and post-operative PROs in patients who underwent OWHTO.
Methods: A total of 83 knees that underwent OWHTO that were followed up for 6.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally in terms of incidence. This cancer is classified into subtypes based on histological or immunological characteristics. HER2-positive cases account for 15-25% of breast cancer cases, and one of the first events in breast carcinogenesis is HER2 upregulation.

A 78-year-old female patient with stomach cancer (with hepatic metastasis and peritoneal dissemination) had received eight courses of an S-1 and oxaliplatin regimen as palliative chemotherapy. Computed tomography revealed liver deformities and incidental gastric varices. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy confirmed the findings of gastric varices in the cardia and fornix.

Background: Although continuous surveillance after a 5-year cancer-free period in patients with bladder cancer (BC) who undergo radical cystectomy (RC) is recommended, optimal candidates for continuous surveillance remain unclear. Sarcopenia is associated with unfavorable prognosis in various malignancies. We aimed to investigate the impact of low muscle quantity and quality (defined as severe sarcopenia) on prognosis after a 5-year cancer-free period in patients who underwent RC.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of phantom factor on the verification of measured doses using cheese phantoms in tomotherapy.
Methods: Two plans for dose verification (plan classes and plan class phantom sets with a virtual organ at the risk set) were evaluated. The calculated and measured doses were compared with and without the phantom factor using cheese phantoms.

Objectives: The optimal frequency and duration of surveillance in patients with high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remain unclear. The aim of the present study is to develop an optimal surveillance protocol based on the European Association of Urology (EAU) substratification in order to improve surveillance costs after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) in patients with primary high-risk NMIBC.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 428 patients with primary high-risk NMIBC who underwent TURBT from November 1993 to April 2019.

High-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) has a heterogeneity and intensive surveillances after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) are major factors of increased costs. Therefore, we aimed to develop optimized surveillance protocols based on the risk score-based substratifications to improve surveillance costs. We retrospectively evaluated 428 patients with primary high-risk NMIBC who underwent TURBT.

Objectives: To investigate whether a single intravesical instillation of chemotherapy is associated with improved oncological outcomes in patients with high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer who receive adjuvant induction bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy.
Methods: This multi-institutional retrospective study included 205 patients with high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer who received adjuvant induction bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy. Patients were divided into two groups: those who received the combined therapy of a single instillation of chemotherapy plus subsequent adjuvant induction bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy (combined therapy group), and those who received adjuvant induction bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy alone (bacillus Calmette-Guérin monotherapy group).

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of Segond fractures and to compare knee stability between patients undergoing primary anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with and without Segond fractures pre- and postoperatively.
Methods: A total of 712 patients who underwent primary ACL reconstruction between 2014 and 2019. Exclusion criteria included patients with multi-ligament knee injuries, skeletally immature patients, osteoarthritis in the knee, combined surgery of high tibial osteotomy, lack of data, and loss to follow-up for at least 2 years.

Biomarkers of tumour response to radiotherapy may help optimise cancer treatment. The aim of the present study was to identify changes in extracellular microRNAs (miRNAs) as a biomarker of radiation-induced damage to human colorectal cancer cells. HCT116 cells were exposed to increasing doses of X-rays, and extracellular miRNAs were analysed by microarray.

Background: The presence of glycosylated isoforms of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in prostate cancer (PC) cells is a potential marker of their aggressiveness. We characterized the origin of α2,3-sialylated prostate-specific antigen (S23PSA) by tissue-based sialylation-related gene expression and studied the performance of S23PSA density (S23PSAD) alone and in combination with multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer in men with elevated PSA.
Methods: Tissue-based quantification of S23PSA and sialyltransferase and sialidase gene expression was evaluated in 71 radical prostatectomy specimens.

Methods: Thirty-five patients (40 knees) who underwent open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OW-HTO) in medial knee osteoarthritis were included in this study. The mean age of the patients who underwent surgery was 55.

Background: This study compared real-world outcomes of metastatic renal-cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors or nivolumab plus ipilimumab.
Methods: Using the International mRCC Database Consortium (IMDC), we retrospectively evaluated intermediate- and poor-risk mRCC patients who were treated with nivolumab plus ipilimumab (Nivo-Ipi), tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) as the first-line therapy between August 2015 and January 2020. We compared oncological outcomes between the Nivo-Ipi group and TKIs group using multivariate logistic regression analysis with the inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) method.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of symptomatic recurrence on oncological outcomes in patients with primary high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 428 patients with primary high-risk NMIBC who underwent TURBT from November 1993 to April 2019. Of the 428 patients, 140 had experienced recurrence at any site and were divided into 2 groups: patients who had experienced recurrence detected by the surveillance (asymptomatic group) and patients who had experienced recurrence detected by a symptom-driven investigation (symptomatic group).

Background/aim: We investigated the beneficial effects of drinking tomato juice (TJ) rich in antioxidant carotenoids on irradiated skin following radiotherapy (RT) in breast cancer patients.
Patients/methods: Twenty-three patients agreed to drink TJ (160 g/day for six months) after the completion of RT. Early and late adverse events (AEs) of irradiated skin were evaluated according to the Common Terminology Criteria for AEs and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Global Cosmetic Rating System, respectively.
