Disorders of mineral metabolism and bone disease are common complications in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Bone biopsies, bone scintigraphy, biochemical markers, and plain films have been used to assess bone disorders and bone turnover. Of these, functional imaging is less invasive than bone/marrow sampling, more specific than serum markers and is therefore ideally placed to assess total skeletal metabolism.

With the growing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, we need to better understand its impact in specific patient groups like those with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). We report on 181 people with CF (32 post-transplant) from 19 countries diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 prior to 13 June 2020. Infection with SARS-CoV-2 appears to exhibit a similar spectrum of outcomes to that seen in the general population, with 11 people admitted to intensive care (7 post-transplant), and 7 deaths (3 post-transplant).

Improving work conditions and the provision of high-quality care and patient safety is an issue in European hospitals. Inspired by a US program for nursing excellence, Magnet Recognition, a Belgian hospital shared their experiences by organizing a summer school in 2019 with nurses of 21 hospitals from 9 countries. This article explains the hospital's research program, the link between the journey and the content of the summer school, lessons learned, and the extent to which participants of European hospitals were interested in nursing excellence and Magnet designation.

Purpose: The role of F-fluoride (F-NaF) PET-CT for the detection of bone metastases in adults is well established and is considered superior to conventional bone scintigraphy. However, data pertaining use of F-NaF PET-CT in pediatric oncology is relatively sparse. The aim of the present study is to retrospectively analyze and share a single-center experience of F-NaF PET-CT in pediatric population and to provide preliminary information regarding imaging technique, feasibility of this modality in young patients and radiation dosimetry measurements in pediatric oncology cases.

Background: After an initial response to EGFR targeted therapy, secondary resistance almost invariably ensues, thereby limiting the clinical benefit of the drug.
