This study aimed to investigate whether serum amyloid A (AA) level can be used as a biomarker in women with hyperemesis gravidarum (HEG). This prospective observational study was conducted at the Antalya Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic, Türkiye, between July and December 2023. Forty women diagnosed with HEG and 40 healthy women were included.

Assessing adolescent gynecomastia: The role of shear wave ultrasound elastography.

Objectives: Pubertal gynecomastia (PG) is defined as benign proliferation of male breast tissue. Ultrasonography is frequently used for follow-up of symptomatic gynecomastia. Shear wave elastography (SWE) is an auxiliary tool for the diagnosis of breast disorders.

Disturbed Atrial Conduction in Patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Background: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)-related cardiomyopathy is associated with hemodynamic and conduction abnormalities and begins at an early age with subtle symptoms.

Methods: The study population included 55 patients with DMD and 54 healthy controls. We compared electrocardiogram (ECG), conventional echocardiography, and tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) assessments between patients with DMD and healthy controls.

Background: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) remains a common complication after cardiac surgery. The ability to accurately identify patients at risk through previous risk scores is limited. Comparison of Polymerase Chain Reaction Method with Culture Method in Antenatal Group B Streptococcus Screening.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonization in pregnancies between 35 and 37 weeks of gestation and to compare the effectiveness of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method with gold standard technique of culture in antenatal GBS screening.

Material And Methods: Vaginal and rectal swabs of a total of 106 pregnant women between 35th and 37th weeks of gestation, who were admitted to our clinic between January 2022 and August 2022, were evaluated using culture and PCR method. The prevalence of GBS was estimated.

Investigation of optical coherence tomography angiography findings in patients with bipolar disorder.

Objectives: Bipolar Disorder (BD) is an important psychiatric disease that progresses with attacks, can be chronic and causes serious mental problems. In this study, we aimed to identify the retinal vascular pathologies in BD patients by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) imaging.

Methods: Retinal vascular analysis from 35 BD patients and 30 healthy controls (HCs) were scanned using the OCTA machine.

A comparison of the effects of nifedipine and indomethacin used in preterm labor tocolytic treatment on feto-maternal Doppler ultrasonography flow.

Objective: To compare the effects of nifedipine and indomethacin, used for tocolytic purposes in the treatment of preterm labor (PTL), on fetal-maternal Doppler blood flows and perinatal outcomes.

Materials And Methods: Eighty pregnant women between weeks 24 and 32 of gestation who used nifedipine (n = 40) and indomethacin (n = 40) as tocolytic treatments due to PTL were prospectively and consecutively included in the study. Sociodemographic, obstetric, and laboratory and Doppler flow parameters were compared between the groups.

Background: Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) is a commonly used technique applied by physical therapists in the rehabilitation of chronic pain.

Objective: The aim of this study was to culturally adapt an existing PNE for children with chronic pain (PNE4Kids) to Turkish children with chronic pain (PNE4Kids-Turkish).

Methods: A three-round modified Delphi-study was conducted between September 2023 and February 2024.

Background: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a systemic disease more than a disease localized to the eye, and there may be vascular involvement in its pathogenesis.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) of patients with CSC, to compare it with that of healthy individuals, and to explore whether there might be an association between CSC and subclinical carotid atherosclerotic disease.

Materials And Methods: Adult patients with CSC (n = 30) and healthy individuals (n = 30) were included in this prospective study.

Tricuspid Valve Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TriClip): Initial Outcomes and Experience in Türkiye.

Objective: This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of tricuspid valve (TV) transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) procedures using the MitraClip or TriClip device in high-risk patients with severe secondary tricuspid regurgitation (TR) and provide Turkish-specific data on procedural outcomes and clinical follow-up.

Methods: This study enrolled 42 high-risk patients with severe secondary TR who underwent transcatheter edge-to-edge repair using either the MitraClip or TriClip device. Patient selection criteria included severe TR, high surgical risk (EuroScore ≥ 8 and Tricuspid Regurgitation Impact Severity Score (TRI-SCORE) ≥ 6), symptomatic despite medical therapy, and anatomical suitability for TriClip.

Sensitivity of frozen section analysis in patients with ovarian adult granulosa cell tumor, a multi-center study.

Introduction: We aimed to demonstrate the sensitivity of frozen section for patients with adult granulosa cell tumor (AGCT) and analyze the clinico-pathological factors that may be associated with sensitivity.

Material Methods: This is a multicenter study including data of 10 Gynecological Oncology Departments. Frozen-section results of patients who had ovarian AGCT at the final pathology report were retrospectively analyzed.

To measure hepatic steatosis (HS) in hospitalized COVID-19 patients using unenhanced chest computed tomography (CT) imaging and to evaluate the relationship between disease severity and prognosis in adult patients.This retrospective study included 152 consecutive hospitalized COVID-19 patients with a positive reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. The COVID-19 Reporting and Data System (CO-RADS) and the chest CT score were evaluated.
