Purpose: Few studies have investigated the efficacy of silodosin, a recently introduced selective alpha 1-A adrenoceptor antagonist, in medical expulsive therapy (MET) for ureteral calculi. The results of these studies, which all evaluated the efficacy of 8 mg/day, indicate that silodosin is a potential treatment for ureteral calculi. This study investigated the efficacy of 4 mg/day of silodosin for MET of distal ureteral stones 4 to 10 mm in diameter.

Acute primary hyperparathyroidism and parathyroid crisis are characterized by life-threatening hypercalcemia, a rare disorder. A 69-year-old female patient presented at our hospital's neurology clinic with weakness, nausea, vomiting, depression, and hypercalcemia. Treatment of hypercalcemia resulted in no improvement in neurological symptoms, indicating resistance to treatment.

Methods: Sixty-one patients (37 males, 24 females; mean age 61 years) with gastric cancer, and whose surgery was planned, underwent preoperative abdominopelvic hydro-MDCT at slice thickness of 5 mm. We evaluated the tumor stage, depth of tumor invasion into the gastric wall, metastasis of lymph node, and presence/absence of distant metastases on the CT images produced with multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) and hydro-CT technique.
