Differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia long-term follow up and prognostic factors: An analysis of a large historical cohort.

Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand

June 2024

Division of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Department of Surgical Sciences, City of Health and Science University Hospital, S. Anna Hospital, University of Turin, Turin, Italy.

Introduction: Differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN) is a high-risk preinvasive vulvar lesion and precursor of human papillomavirus-independent vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC). Due to its rarity, literature data on its malignant potential are scant. The aim of the study is to assess the risk of developing VSCC in patients surgically treated for dVIN not associated with VSCC (solitary dVIN) and the risk of VSCC recurrence in patients treated for dVIN associated with VSCC (dVIN-VSCC) at first diagnosis.

Purpose: The aim was to determine whether the real-world first-line progression-free survival (PFS) of patients diagnosed with de novo human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive (HER2+) advanced breast cancer (ABC) has improved since the introduction of pertuzumab in 2013. In addition to PFS, we aimed to determine differences in overall survival (OS) and the use of systemic and locoregional therapies.

Methods: Included were patients systemically treated for de novo HER2+ ABC in ten hospitals in 2008-2017 from the SONABRE Registry (NCT-03577197).

Little is known about the effect tubulointerstitial nephropathies have in modulating maternal-fetal outcomes in pregnancy. Therefore, we analyzed the main outcomes of pregnancy in these women to gain a better understanding of the role of a reduction in maternal kidney mass. From the Torino Cagliari Observational Study (TOCOS) cohort, we selected 529 patients with a diagnosis of tubulointerstitial disease and focused on 421 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1, without hypertension but with proteinuria less than 0.

  • PLD-Trabectedin is an approved treatment for relapsed platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer, but its effectiveness after PARP inhibitor (PARPi) treatment hasn't been thoroughly investigated.
  • A study compared outcomes of patients who had received PARPi (cases) to those who had not (controls), finding that those previously treated with PARPi had a shorter median progression-free survival (PFS) of 8 months compared to 11 months for controls.
  • Despite the PFS difference, the tolerability of PLD-Trabectedin was similar across both groups, indicating it remains a well-tolerated treatment option even for patients who have already undergone PARPi therapy.
