Comparative efficacy and safety of micropulse transscleral laser cyclophotocoagulation using different duration protocols in eyes with good visual acuity.

Purpose: To compare the success rates and safety of micropulse transscleral laser cyclophotocoagulation (MP-TSCPC) for the treatment of refractory glaucoma using the 240-s and 160-s duration protocols in eyes with good visual acuity.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients with refractory glaucoma who underwent MP-TSCPC from December 2017 to September 2019 with baseline best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of ≥ 20/60. Laser treatments for the moderate and short duration protocols were defined as 240 s and 160 s with settings of 2000 mW/Cm2 and a duty cycle of 31.

Analysis of Confidence Levels and Application Success Rates in Simulator-Based Dental Anesthesia Education Among Undergraduate Dental Students.

Purpose: We investigated the confidence levels of undergraduate dental students who used dental anesthesia simulators and patient reports of undergraduate dental students' confidence levels in delivering anesthesia injections, in comparison with undergraduate dental students who did not use dental anesthesia simulators. We also investigated application success rates.

Materials And Methods: The study was carried out in the dental anesthesia simulator laboratory and in the faculty clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry of Ankara University.

Echocardiographic screening for mitral valve prolapse in Turkish school children.

We determined the frequency of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) in healthy Turkish school children using the current echocardiographic diagnostic criteria. This epidemiological survey was performed on 2550 school children. All children were screened with echocardiography and the family of children with MVP were also screened.

The effect of Subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation on verb and noun naming in Turkish-Speaking Parkinson's disease patients.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with an action language deficit. Subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN DBS) deteriorates verbal fluency, but may improve verb naming more than nouns in PD. We investigated effects of grammatical class (verb vs noun), action content (action vs non-action) of words and unilateral, bilateral or no stimulation on naming.

The study aimed to examine the variables that play a role in the process of prolonged grief within the framework of the cognitive-behavioral model. Hepatic vein in living donor liver transplantation.

Right lobe living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) is a major development in adult LDLT that has significantly increased the donor pool by providing larger graft size and by decreasing risk of small-for-size graft syndrome. However, right lobe anatomy is complex, not only from the inflow but also from the outflow perspective. Outflow reconstruction is one of the key requirements of a successful LDLT and venous drainage of the liver graft is just as important as hepatic inflow for the integrity of graft function.

Stone disease is a unique condition that requires appropriate management in a timely manner as it can result in both emergent conditions and long term effects on kidney functions. In this study it is aimed to identify the up-to-date practice patterns related to preoperative evaluation and anesthesia for stone disease interventions during COVID-19 pandemic. The data of 473 patients from 11 centers in 5 different countries underwent interventions for urinary stones during the Covid-19 pandemic was collected and analyzed retrospectively.

Management of antenatal hydronephrosis.

Antenatal hydronephrosis (AHN) is the most frequently detected abnormality by prenatal ultrasonography. Differential diagnosis of AHN includes a wide variety of congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract ranging from mild abnormalities such as transient or isolated AHN to more important ones as high-grade congenital vesicoureteral reflux or ureteropelvic junction obstruction.
