Background: Hand fractures constitute 20% of hand injury patients who apply to emergency services. Conservative approaches are satisfactory in the majority of the cases. However, the minority group in need of surgery reaches a serious number of patients considering the frequency of these injuries.

Impact of Parental Impulsivity on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder: Do Mothers' Attitudes Predict Symptom Severity in Children?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a chronic neurodevelopmental disorder that occurs early in school-aged children, and it is highly comorbid with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Parents of children with ADHD frequently show mental problems related to impulsivity. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between impulsivity of the mothers and the symptom patterns and severity of children.

Protein expression in vesicoureteral reflux: What about children?

Introduction: The restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common heritable neurologic disorder which is characterized by an irresistible desire to move and unpleasant sensations in the legs.

Methods: We aim to identify new variants associated with RLS by performing genome-wide linkage and subsequent association analysis of forty member's family with history of RLS.

To describe the change in the epidemiology of health care-associated infections (HAI), resistance and predictors of fatality we conducted a nationwide study in 24 hospitals between 2015 and 2018. The 30-day fatality rate was 22% in 2015 and increased to 25% in 2018. In BSI, a significant increasing trend was observed for Candida and Enterococcus.

Clinical success of greater occipital nerve blockade in improving sleep quality of chronic migraineurs: a prospective observational study.

Background: The success of various therapy methods in the treatment of insomnia and poor quality sleep, both of which play an active role in the chronicization process of migraine, has been the subject of investigation. Dextrose administration may reduce the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a double blind randomized controlled trial.

Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is the most common and undesirable of the complications associated with anesthesia, leading to discomfort in patients and extended hospital stays. The present study evaluates and compares the effects of preoperative/intraoperative dextrose infusion on PONV in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).

Titanium Alloy Intramedullary Nails and Plates Affect Serum Metal Ion Levels within the Fracture Healing Period.

Titanium alloy implants are the most used materials for the fixation of lower extremity fractures. Although these implants were thought to be inert materials in vitro, several studies have shown increased serum and remote tissue metal ion levels due to wear of implants and friction of the bone-implant interface in vivo. The aim of this study was to investigate the alteration of serum metal ion levels that are released from intramedullary nails and plates used for the fixation of lower extremity fractures, within the fracture healing period.

Diagnosis of atopic dermatitis in children: comparison of the Hanifin-Rajka and the United Kingdom Working Party criteria.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common chronic skin disease in childhood. There is no definitive test for diagnosing AD. The Hanifin-Rajka criteria (HRC) and The United Kingdom Working Party criteria (UKC) are the most used in the literature.

Effect of LigaSure™, Monopolar Cautery, and Bipolar Cautery on Surgical Margins in Breast-Conserving Surgery.

Background: We compared the differences in thermal damage at the surgical margin between monopolar cautery, bipolar cautery, and LigaSure™ in breast cancer lumpectomy specimens and assessed the effect of these techniques on the evaluation of the surgical margins.

Methods: 30 patients scheduled for breast-conserving surgery for breast cancer were included in this study. During lumpectomy, each of the superior, inferior, lateral, and medial borders of the tumour was excised using one of the following: a scalpel, monopolar cautery, bipolar cautery, and LigaSure technology.

Sixty-three patients with ED who came for follow-up examinations in the 1st month of the treatment were included as the study group, and 80 men who were not diagnosed with ED were as the control group. The age and Charlson Comorbidity Indexes (CCI) of the study and control groups were compared with the IIEF 5, NLR and PLR values before and after the treatment.

Two-Stage Surgery for the Malleolar Fracture-Dislocation With Severe Soft Tissue Injuries Does Not Affect the Functional Results.

Soft tissue injuries associated with malleolar fracture-dislocations may increase postoperative rates of wound complication. Ankle-spanning frame plays a fundamental role in the local damage control orthopedics while gaining time for definitive surgery. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a 2-stage surgery for the unstable malleolar fracture-dislocations with severe soft tissue injuries compared to a 1-stage surgery in terms of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) hindfoot-ankle and Olerud-Molander ankle scores (OMAS).

A Novel Complication Following Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery: Retroperitoneal Hematoma.

Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is an efficient method for kidney stones with low complication rates. Reported here is an unusual complication of this surgery; a retroperitoneal hematoma 8x7.5x5 cm in dimension in a 40-year female, which was completely resolved by conservative treatment.

Comparison of clinical courses and mortality of connective tissue disease-associated interstitial pneumonias and chronic fibrosing idiopathic interstitial pneumonias.

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common pulmonary manifestation of connective tissue diseases (CTD). Prognostic effect of radiological usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) pattern in CTD-associated interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD) is unknown. This study aimed to investigate the disease progression and mortality of patients with CTD-ILD and idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIP) including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and idiopathic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia and the prognostic impact of the radiological UIP pattern on both disease groups.
