Introduction: The transmission risk of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 virus infection is increased in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients, and also the disease causes much higher mortality than the normal population. The aim of this study is to define the predictive value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in terms of worse outcomes in MHD patients.
Methods: A total of 123 MHD patients who had received inpatient care due to COVID-19 infection were included in this multicentered retrospective study.

Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) is a rare genetically heterogeneous group of autosomal recessive liver disorders that manifests as intrahepatic cholestasis during the neonatal period. ATP8B1, ABCB11, and ABCB4 genes are responsible for PFIC type 1, PFIC type 2, and PFIC type 3, respectively. To determine the underlying molecular etiology of PFIC, 80 patients from 77 families were investigated.

Introduction and aim Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is an important complication associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and reduced quality of life. Generally, studies have focused on major surgery so there is little evidence of the incidence of cognitive dysfunction in minor surgery. We aimed to compare the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) in terms of detecting cognitive decline in elderly patients after elective inguinal herniorrhaphy procedure with general or spinal anesthesia.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of septoplasty and septoplasty + bilateral radio frequency ablation of inferior turbinate (b-RFAIT) according to the type of operation, age groups, gender of patients, and the duration of control period by using Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) Scale.
Materials And Methods: Prospective observational study was undertaken in the otolaryngology department of a training hospital. Using the NOSE scale, the study prospectively compared the results of septoplasty only and septoplasty with b-RFAIT in the treatment of nasal obstruction caused by the combination of septal deviation and turbinate hypertrophy.

Background: We aimed to compare the effect of dexamethasone (Dex), hydrocortisone (Hc), and methylprednisolone (Mpz) at equivalent doses on somatic growth, lung healing, and neurotoxicity in a hyperoxic rat model. We hypothesized that Mpz and Hc would be superior to Dex with less neurotoxicity by exerting similar therapeutic efficacy on the injured lung.
Methods: Neonatal rats were randomized to control, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), Dex, Hc, and Mpz groups.

Background: Galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) has an increased tendency to form immunocomplexes with IgG in the serum, contributing to IgAN pathogenesis by accumulating in the glomerular mesangium. Several studies showed that glomerular IgG deposition in IgAN is an important cause of mesangial proliferation and glomerular damage. This study aims to determine the association of the positivity of IgG and the intensity of IgG staining with a poor renal prognosis.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought countries' health services into sharp focus. It was drawn to our group's attention that healthcare workers (HCWs) had a lower mortality rate against higher COVID-19 incidence compared to the general population in Turkey. Since risk of exposure to tuberculosis bacillus among healthcare workers are higher than the population, we aimed to investigate if there is a relationship between BCG and exposure history with COVID-19 severity in infected HCWs.
