Background: Globozoospermia is a rare (incidence of 0.1% among andrological patients) and poorly understood condition, but a severe disorder in male infertility. This case report detailed the course of treatment and protocol of a patient with type 1 globozoospermia using Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and oocyte activation by calcium ionophore, which yielded conception and birth of a healthy baby after six previous unsuccessful attempts, using ICSI alone.

In the recent issue of the Journal of Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis, Wang et al. assessed the relationship between the red cell distribution width (RDW) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, assessing all parameters affecting the RDW, determining the optimum RDW cut-off value for predicting the prognosis of coronary artery disease (CAD), excluding metabolic comorbidities affecting the RDW values and identifying the specific range for the WBC count within the exclusion criteria would provide more reliable results and improve the credibility of the entire article in this study population.

The transobturator tape (TOT) procedure has become practically widespread worldwide. Complications seem to be rare, but recognizing them intraoperatively is the most significant step because some of the complications which may appear in postoperative period can be challenging for both physicians and patients. The purpose of this case, with this patient who was operated on with open surgery, is to evaluate this rarely seen unrecognized and uncommon bladder perforation after TOT procedure and thus make some contribution to the literature.
