Acute stent thrombosis (AST) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and C-reactive protein (CRP) to albumin ratio (CAR) in predicting AST and high SYNTAX score in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The criteria of the Academic Research Consortium were used to determine definite stent thrombosis.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can affect people of all age groups and it can occasionally cause life-threatening clinical illnesses in immunologically immature populations, especially in newborns. High red cell distribution width (RDW) values were used as an early prognostic biomarker of some neonatal diseases. We aimed to determine the prognostic value of RDW in severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infected neonates.

We aimed to examine heel prick (capillary) and serum thyroid function test (TFT) results in neonates with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) to evaluate the effect of asphyxia and therapeutic hypothermia (TH) on thyroid functions. This retrospective chart review included infants who were born after 34 weeks of gestation, were diagnosed and treated for HIE. The patients were divided into those who did and did not undergo TH and the groups were compared in terms of demographic characteristics, laboratory results, capillary thyroid-stimulating hormone (cTSH) levels, and serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) levels.
