Objective: Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is the most common cause of acquired heart disease in developing countries and remains a serious public health problem. In the subclinical course of carditis, the absence of typical symptoms and the normal range of classical echocardiographic measurements used to evaluate cardiac functions have required new echocardiographic methods and parameters. Previous studies regarding rheumatic heart disease in children and adults have shown that strain patterns obtained by speckle tracking echocardiography, are in fact affected although left ventricular systolic functions are preserved, yet some studies have suggested otherwise.

Background: The aim of the study was to investigate the frequency of malnutrition in hospitalized children and compare national growth standards with World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Methods: After obtaining height, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference values for 250 children aged 1 month to 5 years, nutrition status was assessed separately according to Neyzi and WHO standards. Weight-for-age z score (WAZ), weight-for-height z score (WHZ), height-for-age z score (HAZ), and mid-upper arm circumference z score (MUACz) were calculated based on age.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate how the pie-crusting technique affects clinical and radiological outcomes in patients undergoing arthroscopic partial meniscectomy.

Methods: A total of 68 patients with Kellgren-Lawrence (K-L) grade 2 who underwent arthroscopic partial meniscectomy between 2015 and 2021 were evaluated and divided into two groups as arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (36 patients) and arthroscopic partial meniscectomy with pie-crusting (32 patients) according to whether the pie-crusting technique was applied or not. All patients were evaluated at a minimum 2-year follow-up in terms of Lysholm score, Tegner activity score, International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score.

: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of pericapsular nerve group (PENG) and lumbar erector spinae plane (L-ESP) blocks, both administered with a high volume (40 mL) of local anesthetic (LA), for multimodal postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing hip surgery. : This was a prospective, double-blind, randomized study that included 75 adult patients who were divided into three equal groups: control, PENG, and L-ESP. The study compared pain intensity, morphine consumption, time to first morphine request, and postoperative satisfaction between the control group, which received standard multimodal analgesia, and the block groups, which received PENG or L-ESP block in addition to multimodal analgesia.

Central nervous system (CNS) metastases can be seen at a rate of 30% in advanced stages for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Growing evidence indicates the predictive roles of driver gene mutations in the development of brain metastases (BM) in recent years, meaning that oncogene-driven NSCLC have a high incidence of BM at diagnosis. Today, 3rd generation targeted drugs with high intracranial efficacy, which can cross the blood-brain barrier, have made a positive contribution to survival for these patients with an increased propensity to BM.
