The study aimed to evaluate how combining metformin with insulin aspart affects blood sugar control, kidney health, and pregnancy outcomes in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).
Researchers analyzed data from 140 GDM patients, dividing them into two groups: one treated with insulin aspart alone and the other with a combination of insulin aspart and metformin.
Results showed that the combination treatment led to better blood glucose levels, lower kidney injury indicators, and fewer adverse pregnancy outcomes compared to insulin alone, suggesting it may be a beneficial approach for managing GDM.
