Rationale: Neuroprotective strategies based on reperfusion therapy hold substantial promise for acute ischaemic stroke (AIS). Preclinical research indicates that tocilizumab, an interleukin-6 receptor antagonist, can attenuate ischaemia-reperfusion damage by exerting anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.

Aim: To determine tocilizumab's efficacy and safety when combined with endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients with acute anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of elastic fixation on fracture healing and its underlying mechanisms at the gene and protein levels using a rabbit model.
  • Results show that rabbits with elastic fixation had a significantly larger callus volume and higher expression of key proteins associated with bone healing compared to those with stiff fixation.
  • Findings suggest that elastic fixation enhances fracture healing by promoting the differentiation of bone marrow stem cells, potentially through the upregulation of specific genes like THBS1 and OGN.

Objective: This study focused on investigating the mechanism in which the KDM5D/E2F1/TNNC1 axis affected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development.

Methods: At first, we determined HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis, as well as SOD activity, MDA content, and ROS level. ChIP assay was subsequently conducted to examine H3K4me3 modification in the E2F1 promoter region and the binding of E2F1 to the TNNC1 promoter region after KDM5D overexpression.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving 3,025 hemodialysis patients found that those sleeping more than 7 hours were more likely to face hypertension and high levels of sugar and fats in the blood, while shorter sleep durations also increased risks for some conditions.
  • * The research revealed that poor sleep quality had a negative impact on good cholesterol (HDL) and was linked to high triglycerides, with notable differences seen between genders.

Fracture healing is a complex staged repair process in which the mechanical environment plays a key role. Bone tissue is very sensitive to mechanical stress stimuli, and the literature suggests that appropriate stress can promote fracture healing by altering cellular function. However, fracture healing is a coupled process involving multiple cell types that balance and limit each other to ensure proper fracture healing.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the impact of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes (Exo) on cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury, along with the underlying mechanism.

Methods: An animal model of cerebral ischemia was induced using middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), and a cell model utilizing Neuro-2a cells was established through oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R). Exosomes isolated from mouse MSCs were administered to mice or used to stimulate Neuro-2a cells.

This research was aimed at investigating the effects of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α)-mediated DNA methylation enzymes (ten-eleven translocase-2 [TET2] and DNA methyltransferase-3a [DNMT3a]) under hypoxic conditions on S100A6 transcription, thereby promoting the growth and metastasis of lung cancer cells. The expression of HIF-1α or S100A6 in lung cancer cells was interfered with under normoxic and hypoxic conditions, and the cell proliferative, migratory, and invasive properties were assessed. The mechanism of HIF-1α-regulated TET2 and DNMT3 effects on S100A6 transcription under hypoxic conditions was further investigated.

Electronic address:

Background: Atherosclerosis is a deadly consequence of cardiovascular disease and has very high mortality rate worldwide. The epigenetic modifications can regulate the pervasiveness and progression of atherosclerosis through its involvement in regulation of inflammation, oxidative stress, lipid metabolism and several other factors. Specific non-coding RNAs, DNA methylation, and histone modifications are key regulatory factors of atherosclerosis.

Background: The study aims to explore the role of A1BG antisense RNA 1 (A1BG-AS1), microRNA (miR)-148a-3p and ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22) on osteosarcoma (OS) cell growth.

Research Design & Methods: A1BG-AS1, miR-148a-3p, USP22, and silent information regulator 2 homolog 1 (SIRT1) levels in OS tissues and cells were determined. The effects of A1BG-AS1, miR-148a-3p, and USP22 on the biological functions of OS cells were examined by functional assays.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between aging, dialysis duration, and the control of calcium, phosphorus, and iPTH levels in hemodialysis patients, highlighting that aging is a significant issue in this group.
  • Conducted on 3,025 hemodialysis patients in China, the research found that those with poor control of calcium and phosphorus levels, especially those undergoing dialysis for longer periods, showed a disparity between chronological age and biological age.
  • The results suggest that improper metabolic control can accelerate aging in hemodialysis patients, indicating the need for further research on the importance of regulating these minerals to potentially slow down the aging process.

Indolent T-lymphoblastic proliferation (iT-LBP) is a non-neoplastic disease with an indolent clinical course, manifesting as hyperplasia of immature extrathymic T-lymphoblastic cells. Isolated iT-LBP has been observed, but the majority of iT-LBP cases has been seen in conjunction with other diseases. iT-LBP is easily misdiagnosed as T-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia, and understanding the disease of indolent T-lymphoblastic proliferation may prevent misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis in pathological diagnosis.
