Serum level and clinical significance of vitamin E in children with allergic rhinitis.

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is one of the most prevalent allergic diseases in children. This study aimed to investigate the association between serum concentrations of vitamin E and AR to determine if the vitamin E level is correlated with the occurrence and severity of AR.

Methods: A total of 113 children were enrolled in this cross-sectional study.

Electro-acupuncture stimulation prevents remifentanil-induced postoperative hyperalgesia by suppressing spinal microglia in rats.

The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of electro-acupuncture (EA) stimulation on remifentanil-induced postoperative hyperalgesia (RIPH) and the possible involvement of spinal microglia suppression. A model of RIPH was established using adult male Sprague-Dawley rats by administration of remifentanil at 0.08 mg/kg intravenously for 60 min.

Prognostic significance of the pretreatment serum gamma-glutamyltransferase levels in Chinese patients with non-metastatic cervical cancer.

This study was performed to evaluate the prognostic significance of the pretreatment serum gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) levels in a Chinese cohort of patients with early-stage or locally advanced cervical cancer. The pretreatment serum GGT levels were examined in 290 cervical cancer patients with stage I-III disease and 230 healthy controls selected from a cancer-free population in the same region. Patients were assigned to normal or high-risk GGT groups, as previously described, and the GGT levels were correlated to clinicopathologic parameters and survival data.

Clinicopathological and prognostic significance of circulating tumor cells in patients with lung cancer: a meta-analysis.

Background: The prognostic significance of circulating tumor cells in patients with lung cancer is controversial. Therefore, we aimed to comprehensively and quantitatively assess the prognostic role of CTCs in patients with lung cancer.

The preoperative sensitive-modified Glasgow prognostic score is superior to the modified Glasgow prognostic score in predicting long-term survival for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

The present study was designed to investigate the prognostic significance of the preoperative sensitive-modified Glasgow prognostic score (S-mGPS) and its superiority in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Clinicopathologic characteristics, preoperative albumin and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were retrospectively collected in 442 patients who underwent transthoracic esophagectomy.
