Blue Vane and Pan Traps Are More Effective for Profiling Multiple Facets of Bee Diversity in Subtropical Forests.

Insects

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Zoological Systematics and Evolution, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 Beichen West Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100101, China.

The choice of trap in entomological surveys affects the composition of captured insects, though previous comparative studies have been limited in the types of composition measured, and the effects of environmental context. We assessed the sampling bias of several traps commonly used in pollinator monitoring: blue, yellow, and white pan traps, and blue vane traps, towards different taxonomic and functional groups and their efficiency in measuring taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity. Analyses were performed in monoculture and mixed forests to understand the environmental context of trap efficiency.

We present herein a highly efficient atroposelective synthesis of five/five-membered -indolizinylpyrrole through the chiral phosphoric acid (CPA) catalyzed Paal-Knorr reaction of 3-aminoindolizines and 1,4-diketones. The reaction features mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope and excellent enantioselectivity. Moreover, this method provides a facile approach to a novel axially chiral indolizine-pyrrole framework.

School of Nuclear Science and Technology, Key Laboratory of Precision and Intelligent Chemistry, National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Hefei National Research Center for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, 230026, China.

The development of highly efficient and cost-effective nonprecious metal catalysts for the selective hydrogenation of halogenated nitroarenes is very appealing yet challenging. Here, we demonstrate that the hydrogenation activity and selectivity of Co single-atom catalyst (SAC) can be tuned by tailoring the structure of second coordination sphere via P doping. As revealed by synchrotron radiation-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy characterizations, such a P doping on N-coordinated Co SAC results in the unsymmetric Co-NP coordination structure.

Hydro- and deutero-deamination of primary amines using O-diphenylphosphinylhydroxylamine.

Nat Commun

November 2024

State Key Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China.

While selective defunctionalizations are valuable in organic synthesis, hydrodeamination of primary amines poses challenges. Deuterodeamination, analogous to hydrodeamination, presents even greater difficulties due to its frequently slower deuteration rate, interference by hydrogenation and constraints in deuterated sources. This study introduces a reliable, robust, and scalable hydro- and deuterodeamination method capable of handling various primary amines.

Integrable utilization of intermittent sunlight and residual heat for on-demand CO conversion with water.

Nat Commun

November 2024

Hefei National Research Center for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China.

Abundant residual heat from industrial emissions may provide energy resource for CO conversion, which relies on H gas and cannot be accomplished at low temperatures. Here, we report an approach to store electrons and hydrogen atoms in catalysts using sunlight and water, which can be released for CO reduction in dark at relatively low temperatures (150-300 °C), enabling on-demand CO conversion. As a proof of concept, a model catalyst is developed by loading single Cu sites on hexagonal tungsten trioxide (Cu/WO).

The rare-earth metal dialkyl complexes (κ-L)RE(CHSiMe)·(THF) [RE = Lu(1a), Yb(1b), Er(1c), Y(1d), Dy(1e)] (L = 1-(2--CHNCHCH)-3-(2,6-PrCHN[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)-CHN) and the rare-earth metal monoalkyl complexes (κ-L)RE(CHSiMe)·(THF) [ = 0, RE = Lu(2a), Yb(2b); = 1, Er(2c), Y(2d), Dy(2e)], (κ-L)RE(CHSiMe)·THF [RE = Yb(3a), Er(3b), Y(3c), Dy(3d), Gd(3e)] (L = 1-(2--CHNCHCH)-3-(AdN[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)-CHN) (Ad = adamantyl, CH) have been synthesized and fully characterized. These complexes feature chelate ligands having a conjugated system (-C[double bond, length as m-dash]C-C[double bond, length as m-dash]N) with an sp carbon, which enables both electrophilic and nucleophilic carbon centres to be directly connected to the highly electrophilic rare-earth metal ions. The reactions of these complexes with different pyridine derivatives have been systematically investigated with the discovery of reactivity patterns distinct from those of previously reported transition metal complexes.

Bioinspired and biomimetic nucleobase-containing polymers are a series of polydisperse nucleic acid analogs, mainly obtaining through highly efficient and scalable step-growth or chain polymerizations. The combination of pendant nucleobase groups and various backbones endows the polymers/materials with selective multiple H-bonds under distinct conditions, demonstrating the broad applicability of this new family of polymeric materials. In this perspective, we critically summarize recent advances of bioinspired and biomimetic nucleobase-containing polymers and materials in both solution and the bulk.

The budgeted influence maximization (BIM) problem aims to identify a set of seed nodes that adhere to predefined budget constraints within a specified network structure and cost model. However, it is difficult for the existing algorithms to achieve a balance between timeliness and effectiveness. To address this challenge, our study initially proposes a refined cost model through empirical scrutiny of Weibo's quote data.

Normally, electrostatic-dependent mitochondria localization can cause a decrease/loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), leading to the corresponding abnormal behaviors. So, achieving subcellular organelle localization and imaging with as little interference on their physiological activity is of significance for understanding cell activity. Herein, we discover and demonstrate that "polarity" can independently act as a novel kind of target for labeling at the organelle level.
