Bacterial contamination is a very serious health and environmental problem, with the main source of toxicity being lipopolysaccharides in the cell walls of Gram-negative bacteria. Therefore, the development of effective analytical methods is crucial for the detection of lipopolysaccharide content. This work facilitates the efficient generation of precisely adjustable dual-mode signals for LPS detection in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and electrochemiluminescence (ECL) by inducing anisotropic morphological evolution of Au@Ag nanocubes (Au@AgNCs) through poly-cytosine (poly-C) DNA.

Key Lab of Organic Optoelectronics & Molecular Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, PR China. Electronic address:

Exploring suitable dual active site and metal-substrate interface effect is essential for designing efficient and robust electrocatalysts across a wide pH range for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, alloyed platinum-ruthenium clusters supported on nanosheet-assembled molybdenum carbide microflowers (PtRu/MoC) are reported as efficient pH-universal electrocatalysts for HER. Due to dual active site and metal-substrate interface effect, the optimized PtRu/MoC electrocatalyst exhibits extremely low overpotentials (η) of 9, 19, and 33 mV to deliver 10 mA cm in 0.

Native animals worldwide are experiencing long-term coexistence with invasive plants, leading to diverse behavioral changes. Invasive plants may create new habitat structures that affect the distribution or behavior of prey, which in turn might attract predators to these novel habitats, thereby altering predator-prey dynamics within the ecosystem. However, this phenomenon is rarely reported.

School of Educational Science, Anhui Normal University, Jiuhua-Nan-Road, 189, Wuhu, 241000, China.

Background: In this study, we explored changes to female medical staff's health status under the influence of care guilt in the process of balancing work and family care responsibilities. The mediating role of time pressure within this nexus was examined, and an ideal concept derived from the Confucian cultural context, "Zhong-yong," was investigated as a moderator of the impact of care guilt on health status.

Method: A questionnaire survey of 407 full-time female medical staff with family care needs, recruited using convenience sampling from eight hospitals in China, was conducted.

The recovery of precious metal ions (PMI) from wastewater has great significances from both economic and environmental perspectives. However, current recovery methods face limitations, including low efficiency and selectivity, as well as challenges in practical applications. In this study, hollow N-doped carbon spheres (HNC) are proved to be promising for improving anionic AuCl and PdCl recovery via the curvature effect, outperforming non-curved carbon (commercial active carbon and carbon nanosheet) due to their unique curvature effect.

It is highly required to rationally design fluorescent probes a molecular engineering strategy with desired analytical performance for applications in sensing and imaging. Reaction-based fluorescent probes for highly selective sensing of cysteine (Cys) are mainly based on the participation of Cys in reactions such as, addition-cyclization with acrylates, cyclization with aldehydes, coordination displacement, Michael addition reactions, and cleavage reactions. Cys-triggered reactions with the O atoms of ether bonds has also been used to construct reaction-based fluorescent probes based on the substitution of the ether with the nucleophilic thiolate of Cys.

Anhui Laboratory of Molecule-Based Materials, Key Laboratory of Functional Molecular Solids, Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Anhui Normal University, Wuhu 241002, China.

The production of high molecular weight polyethylene particles in aqueous environments has received considerable attention, yet reports on the formation of polyethylene oil within water remain scarce. Herein, we present findings that demonstrate the oligomerization of ethylene by certain iminopyridyl Pd(II) catalysts in water, resulting in the synthesis of hyperbranched ethylene oligomers. It is worth highlighting the intriguing observation that these catalysts exhibited a remarkable catalytic longevity in aqueous medium and ultimately facilitated the generation of a substantial liquid polyolefin phase from water.

Typically, females listen to male vocalizations and exhibit phonotaxis towards preferred traits for mate selection. In contrast, female do not actively approach displaying males for mate selection; instead, they use courtship calls to attract potential mates and incite male competition for access to them.

Copper-based catalysts demonstrate distinctive multicarbon product activity in the CO electroreduction reaction (CORR); however, their low selectivity presents significant challenges for practical applications. Herein, we have developed a multilevel porous spherical CuO structure, wherein the mesopores are enriched with catalytic active sites and effectively stabilize Cu, while the macropores facilitate the formation of a "gas-liquid-solid" three-phase interface, thereby creating a microenvironment with an increasing water concentration gradient from the interior to the exterior. Potential-driven phase engineering and protonation synergistically optimize the reaction pathway, facilitating a switch between CO and CH.

Urban rail transit, as an efficient and eco-friendly mode of transportation, plays a pivotal role in mitigating traffic congestion and lowering urban carbon emissions. Despite the significant contributions by scholars in this area, debates surrounding the quantification of carbon emissions during the operational phase of urban rail transit persist, particularly in assessing its impact on reducing ground traffic congestion. This study examines the passenger flow during Beijing's morning and evening peak hours, assuming that all passengers initially using urban rail transit switch to buses and taxis during these periods.

The space charge effect induced by high-quality heterojunctions is essential for efficient electrocatalytic processes. Herein, we delicately manipulate intermolecular charge transfer by modifying substituents (-g = -CH3, -H, -NO2) with various electron donating/withdrawing capabilities in CoPc-g/CoS organic-inorganic heterostructures. CoPc-CH3, as a typical electron donor, transfers more electrons to CoS due to the presence of -CH3, forming the strongest space electric field and thus regulating the dual active sites at the interface.
