: The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a highly pathogenic virus causing severe respiratory illness, with limited treatment options that are mostly supportive. The success of mRNA technology in COVID-19 vaccines has opened avenues for antibody development against MERS-CoV. mRNA-based antibodies, expressed in vivo, offer rapid adaptability to viral mutations while minimizing long-term side effects.

The purpose of this experiment is to investigate how different doses of powder affect the growth performance, carcass quality, serum biochemical indexes, serum antioxidant and immunological index, intestinal morphology, and digestive enzyme activity of broilers. Four hundred chicks of a similar weight (1 day old) are randomly assigned to four groups of five replicates of 20 chicks each (half males and half females). The control group is fed a basal ration, and the experimental groups T1, T2, and T3 are supplemented with 6.

This study investigates the effects of combined compound acidifiers and plant essential oils on the production performance, egg quality, and health parameters of Xianjv chickens. A total of 240 healthy 34-week-old Xianjv chickens were randomly divided into 5 groups and given 5 different feed additives: a control group with a basal diet, and four experimental groups with varying doses of compound acidifiers (CA) and essential oils (EO). The results revealed that the addition of compound acidifiers and essential oils did not significantly affect average daily feed intake, egg production rate, or feed-to-egg ratio.

Dissecting the mechanisms underlying heat tolerance is important for understanding how plants acclimate to heat stress. Here, we identify a heat-responsive gene in Arabidopsis thaliana, RNA-DIRECTED DNA METHYLATION 16 (RDM16), which encodes a pre-mRNA splicing factor. Knockout mutants of RDM16 are hypersensitive to heat stress, which is associated with impaired splicing of the mRNAs of 18 out of 20 HEAT SHOCK TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR (HSF) genes.

Given the adverse effects faced by rice due to abiotic stresses, the precise and rapid identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with abiotic stress traits (ABST-SNPs) in rice is crucial for developing resistant rice varieties. The scarcity of high-quality data related to abiotic stress in rice has hindered the development of computational models and constrained research efforts aimed at rice improvement and breeding. Genome-wide association studies provide a better statistical power to consider ABST-SNPs in rice.

While flavonoid accumulation, light radiation, and cold stress are intrinsically connected in tea plants, yet the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. The circadian protein CCA1 and CCA1-like MYB transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in coordinating light and temperature signals in plant-environment interactions, their homologs in tea plants have not been addressed. Here we analyzed CsCCA1-like MYB family in tea genome and found one member, a circadian gene CsMYB128 responding to cold stress.

To mitigate the risk associated with water-soluble fluoride in tea and to have less influence on the contents of tea infusion, a highly selective lanthanum modified silk fibroin (SF) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film (SF/PVA-La) was prepared to remove fluoride from brick tea infusion. Notably, SF/PVA-La could remove about 48 % of the fluoride from in brick tea infusion within 30 min. Importantly, the reduction in total tea polyphenols in brick tea did not exceed 10 %, and the reduction in caffeine was only 0.

The global issue of insecticide resistance among pests is a major concern. Ectropis grisescens Warren (Lepidoptera: Geometridae), is a highly destructive leaf-eating pest distributed in tea plantations throughout China and Japan, and has exhibited resistance to various insecticides. Recent studies suggest that insect symbionts play a role in influencing insecticide resistance, however, their specific involvement in E.

This study investigated the effect of different-polarity aqueous ethanol solutions on the formation of V-type starch originating from corn starch. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the morphology of starch transformed from a random lamellar structure to a granular structure with decreasing solution polarity. When the ethanol concentration increased from 40 % to 60 %, the crystallinity and single-helix ratio of V-type starch increased from 9.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has greatly improved pesticide effectiveness and control efficiency; however, the risk of inhalation exposure to pesticides caused by spray drift requires urgent attention. This study is the first to investigate residue distribution and inhalation exposure risk of airborne prothioconazole and its metabolite prothioconazole-desthio during UAV application. The maximum detected unit exposure of prothioconazole and prothioconazole-desthio in airborne particulate matter was 0.

Asymmetric catalysis involving a sulfoxide electrophile intermediate presents an efficient methodology for accessing stereogenic-at-sulfur compounds, such as sulfinate esters, sulfinamides, , which have garnered increasing attention in modern pharmaceutical sciences. However, as the aza-analog of sulfoxide electrophiles, the asymmetric issues about electrophilic sulfinimidoyl species remain largely unexplored and represent a significant challenge in sulfur stereochemistry. Herein, we exhibit an anionic stereogenic-at-cobalt(III) complex-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of chiral sulfinamides via chiral sulfinimidoyl iodide intermediates.

The microRNAs and phasiRNAs of plant are small non-coding RNAs with important functions through regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. However, identifying miRNAs, phasiRNAs and their target genes from numerous sequencing raw data requires multiple software and command-line operations, which are time-consuming and labor-intensive for non-model plants. Therefore, we present CsMPDB (miRNAs and phasiRNAs database of Camellia sinensis), an interactive web application with multiple analysis modules developed to visualize and explore miRNA and phasiRNA in tea plants based on 259 sRNA-seq samples and 24 degradome-seq samples in NCBI.

Traditional photopolymerizations generally requires an initiator for initiating the polymerization while few cases have created degradable chemical bonds. Moreover, the migration instability and cytotoxicity of photo initiators are posing issues to human health and the environment. In this work, we discovered an initiator-free photo polycondensation system (IFPPC) between polymercaptans and aldehyde monomers, producing high strength plastic materials with exchangeable and degradable dithioacetal groups.

At present, some progress has been made in developing NIR light-responsive free radical generators. However, the efficacy of theranostics continues to be hindered by tumor-associated inflammatory reactions. Hence, fulfilling the in situ release of free radicals upon NIR light excitation specifically activated by the inflammation microenvironment would be an ideal strategy for efficient inflammation eradication and tumor suppression but remains a challenge.
