Purpose: This study aims to document the experiences of the authors during a maxillofacial humanitarian mission in Angola, with a focus on assessing the challenges faced by local maxillofacial surgeons. Additionally, the study evaluates the role of internet-based tools in planning and executing such missions to enhance the efficiency and impact of future interventions.
Material And Methods: THE STUDY INVOLVED TWO PARTS: (1) An online survey conducted with maxillofacial surgeons across various regions of Angola to assess local needs, difficulties, and obstacles before the mission.
Purpose: To investigate the epidemiological profile of dental caries and periodontal disease, access to dental services, and perception of oral health in adolescents and adults from a rural community in Angola.
Materials And Methods: This is an observational, analytical and cross-sectional study, performed with 575 individuals aged between 12 and 40 years. The prevalence of caries and periodontal disease was assessed using the DMFT index and the Community Periodontal Index.

Plant stress reduction research has advanced significantly with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, such as machine learning and deep learning. This is a significant step toward sustainable agriculture. Innovative insights into the physiological responses of plants mostly crops to drought stress have been revealed through the use of complex algorithms like gradient boosting, support vector machines (SVM), recurrent neural network (RNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM), combined with a thorough examination of the TYRKC and RBR-E3 domains in stress-associated signaling proteins across a range of crop species.

Understanding women's attitudes towards wife abuse and its effects on their reproductive choices is crucial for promoting gender equality in Southern Africa. However, a paucity of research has explored this relationship. Using IPUMS Demographic and Health Surveys data from 2011-2018 across eight Southern African nations, we analyzed 17,968 women's attitudes towards wife beating and their reproductive choices through a cross-sectional design and multilevel logistic regression models.

Odontogenic infections, irrespective of regional economic conditions, are a global health concern. Some cases escalate to severe levels, complicating treatment, endangering lives, and reducing positive outcomes. Necrotizing fasciitis is particularly lethal, with purulent collections and infection-derived gases spreading to distant regions.

Thyroid illness encompasses a range of disorders affecting the thyroid gland, leading to either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, which can significantly impact metabolism and overall health. Hypothyroidism can cause a slowdown in bodily processes, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, depression, and cold sensitivity. Hyperthyroidism can lead to increased metabolism, causing symptoms like rapid weight loss, anxiety, irritability, and heart palpitations.

: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) encompass a variety of conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels. Carotenoids, a group of fat-soluble organic pigments synthesized by plants, fungi, algae, and some bacteria, may have a beneficial effect in reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study aims to examine and synthesize current research on the relationship between carotenoids and CVDs.

Virtual histopathology is an emerging technology in medical imaging that utilizes advanced computational methods to analyze tissue images for more precise disease diagnosis. Traditionally, histopathology relies on manual techniques and expertise, often resulting in time-consuming processes and variability in diagnoses. Virtual histopathology offers a more consistent, and automated approach, employing techniques like machine learning, deep learning, and image processing to simulate staining and enhance tissue analysis.

Information concerning the fundamental properties of a pathogen is essential at the beginning of an outbreak. Often, the fundamental properties of an emerging virus are unknown because the virus is new, as in the recent SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, or because the properties have not been investigated, as was the case during the West African Ebola virus epidemic and the Marburg virus epidemics in Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The amount of time that a virus can remain viable under various conditions is one of these fundamental properties.

Marburg virus (MARV) has caused sporadic outbreaks of severe hemorrhagic fever in Africa in humans and nonhuman primates (NHPs) and has the potential to be used as a biological weapon. Currently, there are no licensed vaccines or therapeutics to respond to outbreaks or deliberate misuse. Vaccine and therapeutic efficacy testing against MARV requires animal models that accurately mimic human disease.

Animal models are key tools for understanding Marburg virus (MARV) pathogenesis and evaluating novel countermeasures. Rodents, in particular, are useful model systems because they are inexpensive and easy to house and handle in maximum containment laboratories. Unfortunately, wild-type MARV, like other filoviruses, does not cause disease in immune-competent rodents and must first be adapted to the rodent host, typically through serial passaging.

With the rapid increase of users over social media, cyberbullying, and hate speech problems have arisen over the past years. Automatic hate speech detection (HSD) from text is an emerging research problem in natural language processing (NLP). Researchers developed various approaches to solve the automatic hate speech detection problem using different corpora in various languages, however, research on the Urdu language is rather scarce.

Background: The 2023 dengue outbreak has proven that dengue is not only an endemic disease but also an emerging health threat in Bangladesh. Integrated studies on the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, seasonality, and genotype of dengue are limited. This study was conducted to determine recent trends in the molecular epidemiology, clinical features, and seasonality of dengue outbreaks.

We sought to identify concurrent human infections, their phylogeny, and epidemiologic characteristics in a cohort of febrile patients enrolled from 2016-2019 at hospitals serving the epizootic area.
Methods: From September 2016 through May 2019, we conducted a prospective cohort study that enrolled febrile patients hospitalized at two hospitals in Moshi, Tanzania.

The rosefin barb, Enteromius argenteus, as currently described, is a freshwater fish with a distribution that is geographically separated and divided into the northern population in the Kwanza River system in Angola, and the southern population in the Inkomati River system in South Africa and Eswatini. Due to this disjunct distribution pattern, it is likely that the two populations represent distinct species. mtDNA sequence data and detailed examination of morphometric characters revealed considerable genetic (2.
