Should we vaccinate during an active rheumatic disease?

Timing of vaccination and its relationship with concomitant immunosuppressive therapy has been a matter of debate in the field of AutoImmune Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases (AIIRD). Vaccination is crucial in the prevention of infections, which, in the setting of AIIRD, are known risk factors for disease flare and expose patients to increase risk of complications and mortality. As evidenced from real-life studies, vaccines do not significantly affect disease activity.
