Disparities in estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and Ki67 proliferation indices facilitate the categorization of breast cancer into four principal subtypes: luminal A, luminal B, HER2-positive, and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Preclinical studies investigating the therapeutic potential of histaminergic system targeting in breast cancer have shown promising results. This study aimed to assess the expression profiles of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) and micro RNA (miRNA) related to the histaminergic system in five subtypes of breast cancer among Polish women.

Introduction: In ORAL Surveillance, incidence rates (IRs) of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and malignancies (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer [NMSC]) in cardiovascular (CV)-risk-enriched patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were numerically greater with tofacitinib in North America versus the rest of the world, due to underlying risk factors. Here, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of tofacitinib versus tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) among patients with RA across geographical regions.
Methods: Patients with RA in ORAL Surveillance (NCT02092467), who were aged ≥ 50 years with ≥ 1 additional CV risk factor, received tofacitinib 5 or 10 mg twice daily or TNFi; 45.

This study aimed to assess the expression profile of messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA (miRNA) related to the dopaminergic system in five types of breast cancer in Polish women. Patients with five breast cancer subtypes were included in the study: luminal A ( = 130), luminal B ( = 196, including HER2-, = 100; HER2+, = 96), HER2+ ( = 36), and TNBC ( = 43); they underwent surgery, during which tumor tissue was removed along with a margin of healthy tissue (control material). The molecular analysis included a microarray profile of mRNAs and miRNAs associated with the dopaminergic system, a real-time polymerase chain reaction preceded by reverse transcription for selected genes, and determinations of their concentration using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

To assess the incidence and prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Poland for the period 2013-2021, total and dependent on gender, age, region and serological status. Information on reported National Health Fund (NHF) health services and reimbursed prescriptions were used, defining an RA patient as a person who had at least two visits in different quarters with ICD-10 code M05 or M06 and at the same time filled at least one reimbursed prescription for a drug whose active substance is methotrexate, sulfasalazine, leflunomide or was treated with biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMRDs) or targeted synthetic DMARDs (tsDMARDs) as part of a drug program financed by the National Health Fund. The nationwide standardised incidence rate of RA in 2021 was 29 persons per 100,000 population (18 per 100,000 population of seropositive vs.

As severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) evolves, infection management in vulnerable populations requires formalized guidance. Although low-virulence variants of SARS-CoV-2 remain predominant, they pose an increased risk of severe illness in adults with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). Several disease-specific (chronic long-grade inflammation, concomitant immunosuppression) and individual (advanced age, multimorbidity, pregnancy, vaccination status) factors contribute to excess risk in RMD populations.

Background: Unhealthy habits, such as overeating processed and high-calorie foods, alcohol abuse, and smoking, negatively impact human health. It has been suggested that the inflammatory process and the resulting growth of nerve fibers within the intervertebral disc (IVD) fissures is the main reason for the pain accompanying IVD degeneration (IVDD).
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine whether smoking, alcohol consumption, overweight/obesity, or diabetes comorbidity contribute to the development of IVDD and how the aforementioned factors affect the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and growth associated protein 43 (GAP-43) in the study and control groups (intervertebral discs, IVDs from cadavers, and serum samples from voluntary blood donors).

Purpose: Tumor necrosis factor exerts many adverse biological effects, from cell proliferation to cell death. Accurate diagnosis and treatment are therefore difficult due to many factors influencing tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) signaling, including microRNAs (miRNAs), especially in tumors. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of miRNAs on the expression profile of genes and proteins related to TNF-α signaling in endometrial cancer.
