A novel approach for the spiro-isoindolinone dihydroquinazolinones has been demonstrated from 2-aminobenzamide and 2-cyanomethyl benzoate in the presence of KHMDS as a base to get moderate yields. The reaction has been screened in various bases followed by solvents and a gram scale reaction has also been executed under the given conditions. Based on the controlled experiments a plausible reaction mechanism has been proposed.

Background: Despite the availability of a variety of chemotherapeutic agents, cancer is still one of the leading causes of death worldwide because of the problems with existing chemotherapeutic agents like objectionable side effects, lack of selectivity, and resistance. Hence, there is an urgent need for the development of novel anticancer agents with high usefulness, fewer side effects, devoid of resistance and superior selectivity.
Objective: The objective of this study is to synthesize a series of novel 1,5-benzothiazepine derivatives and evaluate their anticancer activity employing biological and computational methods.

Carbamazepine is a commonly used iminostilbene antiepileptic medication and it is estimated that 46.9% of the total antiepileptic drug overdose in the United Kingdom is because of this drug. The overdose of Carbamazepine can show negative effects on multiple systems, these include neurologic (ataxia, seizures, and altered sensorium), cardiac (tachycardia, hypotension) and metabolic manifestations.

The aim of the work is to synthesize iron oxide (α-FeO) nanoparticles using plant extract along with evaluation of its antibacterial activity. The presence of phytochemicals in methanolic plant extract was investigated by HPTLC and LC-MS/TOF. The probable mechanism for formation of α-FeO nanoparticles in mediation with plant extract was demonstrated.

The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is the most dominant mode of subseasonal variability in the tropics, characterized by an eastward-moving band of rain clouds. The MJO modulates the El Niño Southern Oscillation, tropical cyclones and the monsoons, and contributes to severe weather events over Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. MJO events travel a distance of 12,000-20,000 km across the tropical oceans, covering a region that has been warming during the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries in response to increased anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases, and is projected to warm further.

Herein, we have reported a facile and green synthesis approach of Ag NP decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO) through an self-assembly method in the presence of l-methionine (l-Met) as reducing and stabilizing agent. The electronic properties, crystal structure, and morphology of the as-synthesized RGO-Ag nanocomposite were investigated by UV-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. UV-Vis and FTIR show the effective reduction of GO and the formation of Ag NPs using l-Met.

A qualitative approach, including geochemical and multivariate statistical approaches, is applied to evaluate the groundwater quality and human health risk, based on analytical data of 72 samples collected from a semi-arid region of eastern Maharashtra, India. The shifting of hydrochemical type from Ca-Na-[Formula: see text] to Na-Ca-Cl type was observed along different flow paths. The main controlling processes observed from the chemical characterisation of the groundwater are water-rock interactions, dedolomitisation and reverse ion exchange.

This study investigated the linkage between mercury (Hg) speciation in the surficial sediments from a mangrove ecosystem of the Zuari Estuary, west coast of India, with Hg bioaccumulation in gastropods collected from the same area. Multiple operationally defined protocols and methods were used for determination of Hg speciation study in the mangrove sediments. Moderately low concentrations of Hg were observed in the sediments, ranging from 37.
