Indocyanine green (ICG) is one of the only clinically approved near-infrared (NIR) fluorophores used during fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS), but it lacks tumor specificity for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Several tumor-targeted fluorescent probes have been evaluated in PDAC patients, yet no uniformity or consensus exists among the surgical community on the current and future needs of FGS during PDAC surgery. In this first-published consensus report on FGS for PDAC, expert opinions were gathered on current use and future recommendations from surgeons' perspectives.

Objectives: To compare short term variation (STV) and phase rectified signal averaging (PRSA) and their association with fetal outcome in early onset fetal growth restriction (FGR).
Methods: Data were used from a retrospective cohort study of women who were admitted for FGR and/or pre-eclampsia and who were delivered by pre-labor Cesarean section or had a fetal death before 32 weeks' gestation. Computerized cardiotocography (cCTG) registrations of the 5 days before delivery or fetal death were used for calculation of STV and PRSA.

Objective: To evaluate the role of antenatal administration of corticosteroids for fetal lung maturation on the short-term perinatal outcome of pregnancy complicated by late fetal growth restriction (FGR).
Methods: This cohort study was a secondary analysis of a multicenter prospective observational study, the TRUFFLE-2 feasibility study, conducted between 2017 and 2018 in 33 European perinatal centers. The study included women with a singleton pregnancy from 32 + 0 to 36 + 6 weeks of gestation with a fetus considered at risk for FGR, defined as estimated fetal weight (EFW) and/or fetal abdominal circumference < 10 percentile, or umbilicocerebral ratio (UCR) ≥ 95 percentile or a drop of more than 40 percentile points in abdominal circumference measurement from the 20-week scan.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is the descent of the bladder, uterus, and/or rectum into the vagina. POP is associated with altered vaginal fibroblast functionality and connective tissue composition in the vaginal wall. The results of surgical intervention are poor, which may be related to the lack of true restoration of the connective tissue.

Background: In patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) different joints were shown to share the same dominant T-cell clones, suggesting shared characteristics of the inflammatory process and indicating that strategies to selectively target the antigen receptor might be feasible. Since T- and B-lymphocytes closely interact in adaptive responses, we analysed to what extent different joints also share dominant B-cell clones.
Methods: In 11 RA patients, quantitative B-cell receptor (BCR) repertoire analysis was performed in simultaneously obtained samples from inflamed synovial tissue (ST) from distinct locations within one joint, from multiple joints, from synovial fluid (SF) and peripheral blood (PB).

Background: Although fetal size is associated with adverse perinatal outcome, the relationship between fetal growth velocity and adverse perinatal outcome is unclear.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between fetal growth velocity and signs of cerebral blood flow redistribution, and their association with birthweight and adverse perinatal outcome.
Study Design: This study was a secondary analysis of the TRUFFLE-2 multicenter observational prospective feasibility study of fetuses at risk of fetal growth restriction between 32 and 36 weeks of gestation (n=856), evaluated by ultrasound biometry and umbilical and middle cerebral artery Doppler.

Importance: Decision-making on management of proximal femoral fractures in frail patients with limited life expectancy is challenging, but surgical overtreatment needs to be prevented. Current literature provides limited insight into the true outcomes of nonoperative management and operative management in this patient population.
Objective: To investigate the outcomes of nonoperative management vs operative management of proximal femoral fractures in institutionalized frail older patients with limited life expectancy.

Surgery for locoregionally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) results in 30‒50% five-year overall survival. In IMCISION (NCT03003637), a non-randomized phase Ib/IIa trial, 32 HNSCC patients are treated with 2 doses (in weeks 1 and 3) of immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) using nivolumab (NIVO MONO, n = 6, phase Ib arm A) or nivolumab plus a single dose of ipilimumab (COMBO, n = 26, 6 in phase Ib arm B, and 20 in phase IIa) prior to surgery. Primary endpoints are feasibility to resect no later than week 6 (phase Ib) and primary tumor pathological response (phase IIa).

Background And Aim: Arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are defined as being quiescent vascular masses composed of mature vessels. However, recent studies reported areas of microvascular proliferation (MVP) in AVM, indicating a process of angiogenesis. As this finding questions the previous definition, the primary objective of this review was to evaluate whether angiogenesis occurs in vascular malformations of skin and soft tissue, and second, to identify potential factors involved in MVP.

Vascular endothelial cells are covered with glycocalyx comprising heparan sulfate, hyaluronan, chondroitin sulfate, and associated proteins. Glomerular endothelial glycocalyx is involved in protecting against induction of proteinuria and structural damage, but the specific components in glycocalyx that represent therapeutic targets remain unclear. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy is associated with an increased risk of glomerular endothelial injury.

Background: During peritoneal dialysis (PD), solute transport and ultrafiltration are mainly achieved by the peritoneal blood vasculature. Glycocalyx lies on the surface of endothelial cells and plays a role in vascular permeability. Low-glucose degradation product (GDP), pH-neutral PD solutions reportedly offer higher biocompatibility and lead to less peritoneal injury.

Recent studies implicate maternal gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in differential methylation of infant DNA. Folate and vitamin B12 play a role in DNA methylation, and these vitamins may also influence GDM risk. The aims of this study were to determine folate and vitamin B12 status in obese pregnant women and investigate associations between folate and vitamin B12 status, maternal dysglycaemia and neonatal DNA methylation at cytosine-phosphate-guanine sites previously observed to be associated with dysglycaemia.

Lipid accumulation is associated with various forms of acute renal injury; however, the causative factors and pathways underpinning this lipid accumulation have not been thoroughly investigated. In this study, we performed lipidomic profiling of renal tissue following ischaemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). We identified a significant accumulation of cholesterol and specific phospholipids and sphingolipids in kidneys 24 h after IRI.
