Background: The gender-gap in power is still persistent around the globe. Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) interventions have been implemented to increase women's empowerment as a goal in itself, and as a pathway to food and nutrition security (FNS). However, contradicting evidence exists on whether the interventions, besides food security, realize women's empowerment.

Aims/background: Routine third-trimester ultrasonography is increasingly conducted to screen for foetal growth restriction (FGR) and reduce adverse perinatal and child neurodevelopmental outcomes using timely obstetric management. While it did not reduce adverse perinatal outcomes in previous trials, evidence regarding its association with child neurodevelopmental outcome is absent. We examined whether routine third-trimester ultrasonography is positively associated with child developmental and behavioural/emotional outcomes compared to usual care.

Educating patients about patient-reported outcomes-are we there yet?

J Patient Rep Outcomes

September 2024

Patient and Family-Centered Care Scientist, Departments of Pediatrics and Community Health Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Background: Using Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in clinical settings can improve patient outcomes by enhancing communication between patient and provider. There has been significant improvements in the development of PROMs, their implementation in routine patient clinical care, training physicians and other healthcare providers to interpret the PROMs results to identify any issues reported by the patient, and to use the PROMs results to provide or modify the treatment.

Main Body: Despite the increased use of PROMs, the lack of PROM completion by patients is a major concern in the optimal use of PROMs.

An Integrated Approach for Representing Knowledge on the Potential of Drugs to Cause Acute Kidney Injury.

Drug Saf

January 2025

Department of Medical Informatics, Amsterdam University Medical Centre, University of Amsterdam, Meibergdreef 15, 1105 AZ, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Introduction And Objective: The recent rise in acute kidney injury (AKI) incidence, with approximately 30% attributed to potentially preventable adverse drug events (ADEs), poses challenges in evaluating drug-induced AKI due to polypharmacy and other risk factors. This study seeks to consolidate knowledge on the drugs with AKI potential from four distinct sources: (i) bio(medical) peer-reviewed journals; (ii) spontaneous reporting systems (SRS); (iii) drug information databases (DIDs); and (iv) NephroTox website. By harnessing the potential of these underutilised sources, our objective is to bridge gaps and enhance the understanding of drug-induced AKI.
