The integrity of dissimilar Al-Ti welds during conventional friction stir welding (CFSW) is compromised by excessive material mixing, leading to thick intermetallic layers. Underwater friction stir welding (UWFSW) mitigates these effects by inhibiting material mixing due to lower thermal conditions. Scanning electron microscopy revealed substantial Ti particles, appearing as blocks and strips, within the stir zone during CFSW.

In this study, the effect of ultrasonic vibration during Friction Stir Vibration Processing (FSVP) on the microstructure and mechanical behaviour of AZ31/TiC surface composites was investigated. Specifically, Titanium Carbide (TiC) particles were introduced as a reinforcement (15 vol%) into the magnesium alloy AZ31 using both Friction Stir Processing (FSP) and FSVP. Comprehensive examinations were carried out to analyse the microstructure, hardness, and tensile behaviour of the resulting composites.

A wax-patterned paper analytical device (µPAD) has been developed for point-of-care colourimetric testing of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT). The detection method was based on the transamination reaction of aspartate with α-ketoglutarate, leading to the formation of oxaloacetate which reacts with the reagent Fast Blue BB salt and forms a cavern pink colour. The intensity of the cavern pink colour grows as the concentration of SGOT increases.

Countries all over the world are shifting from conventional and fossil fuel-based energy systems to more sustainable energy systems (renewable energy-based systems). To effectively integrate renewable sources of energy, multi-directional power flow and control are required, and to facilitate this multi-directional power flow, peer-to-peer (P2P) trading is employed. For a safe, secure, and reliable P2P trading system, a secure communication gateway and a cryptographically secure data storage mechanism are required.
