We investigated the magnetocaloric and electrical transport properties of the EuCuNiSi clathrate compound, synthesized by an arc melting and annealing method. X-ray photoemission spectroscopy revealed a mixed valence state of Eu and Eu. The low-field and low-temperature magnetic measurements indicated a multiple magnetic transition, from ferromagnetic near 35 K to antiferromagnetic at 25 K.

Tumour cells secrete various proangiogenic factors like VEGF, PDGF, and EGF that result in the formation of highly vascularized tumours with an immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment. As tumour growth and metastasis are highly dependent on angiogenesis, targeting tumour vasculature along with rapidly dividing tumour cells is a potential approach for cancer treatment. Here, we specifically engineered sub-100 sized nanomicelles (DTX-CA4 NMs) targeting proliferation and angiogenesis using an esterase-sensitive phosphocholine-tethered docetaxel conjugate of lithocholic acid (LCA) (PC-LCA-DTX) and a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) derivative of an LCA-combretastatin A4 conjugate (PEG-LCA-CA4).

Benzodiazepines are commonly prescribed drugs for numerous indications such as epilepsy, anti-anxiety, sleep aids, sedatives, and hypnotics. Although the well-tolerated effects of benzodiazepine are seen in many clinical instances, the severity of side effects reduces its quantifiable use. Benzodiazepines, which are medically useful but theoretically unsafe, are frequently recommended by medical practitioners for psychotic patients but have misuse and dependence liabilities.

Central nervous system-related disorders have become a continuing threat to human life and the current statistic indicates an increasing trend of such disorders worldwide. The primary therapeutic challenge, despite the availability of therapies for these disorders, is to sustain the drug's effective concentration in the brain while limiting its accumulation in non-targeted areas. This is attributed to the presence of the blood-brain barrier and first-pass metabolism which limits the transportation of drugs to the brain irrespective of popular and conventional routes of drug administration.

Silicon application mitigates phosphate deficiency in barley through an interplay with auxin and nitric oxide, enhancing growth, photosynthesis, and redox balance, highlighting the potential of silicon as a fertilizer for overcoming nutritional stresses. Silicon (Si) is reported to attenuate nutritional stresses in plants, but studies on the effect of Si application to plants grown under phosphate (Pi) deficiency are still very scarce, especially in barley. Therefore, the present work was undertaken to investigate the potential role of Si in mitigating the adverse impacts of Pi deficiency in barley Hordeum vulgare L.

Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) exerts a substantial impact on mortality rates. According to 2023 statistics, more than half a billion individuals are experiencing the effects of T2D, making it one of the top 10 leading contributors to worldwide deaths. Multiple factors contribute to the onset of T2D, such as obesity, poor diet and lifestyle, the mutation in specific genes and many more.

In industrial landscapes, spool fabrication industries play a crucial role in the successful completion of numerous industrial projects by providing prefabricated modules. However, the implementation of digitalized sustainable practices in spool fabrication industries is progressing slowly and is still in its embryonic stage due to several challenges. To implement digitalized sustainable manufacturing (SM), digital technologies such as Internet of Things, Cloud computing, Big data analytics, Cyber-physical systems, Augmented reality, Virtual reality, and Machine learning are required in the context of sustainability.

Single-cell sequencing was developed as a high-throughput tool to elucidate unusual and transient cell states that are barely visible in the bulk. This technology reveals the evolutionary status of cells and differences between populations, helps to identify unique cell subtypes and states, reveals regulatory relationships between genes, targets and molecular mechanisms in disease processes, tumor heterogeneity, the state of the immune environment, etc. However, the high cost and technical limitations of single-cell sequencing initially prevented its widespread application, but with advances in research, numerous new single-cell sequencing techniques have been discovered, lowering the cost barrier.

Background: Alzheimer's disease is a neurological dysfunction of the brain caused by neurodegeneration and oxidative stress. Some viruses, such as herpes viruses, HSV-1, and HSV-2, are causative agents of Alzheimer's disease and result in β-amyloid peptide and tau protein accumulation in the brain. Some antiviral drugs, such as valacyclovir, acyclovir, and foscarnet, reduce amyloid-beta and leaves are also reported for their antiviral properties.

Esophageal cancer (EC) ranks as the 8 most aggressive malignancy, and its treatment remains challenging due to the lack of biomarkers facilitating early detection. EC manifests in two major histological forms - adenocarcinoma (EAD) and squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) - both exhibiting variations in incidence across geographically distinct populations. High-throughput technologies are transforming the understanding of diseases, including cancer.

Background: Athletes affected by rotator cuff tendinopathy experience discomfort, stiffness, reduced range of motion, diminished athletic performance, and decreased quality of life. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of physio-yogic exercises in reducing pain and disability, increasing range of motion, and improving quality of life in Indian overhead athletes with rotator cuff tendinopathy.
Methods: Sample from 45 athletes was divided into three groups scapular recruitment exercises, physio-yogic exercises, and yoga asanas.

Thermo-acidic pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass is required to make it amenable to microbial metabolism and results in generation of furfural due to breakdown of pentose sugars. Furfural is toxic to microbial metabolism and results in reduced microbial productivity and increased production costs. This study asks if deletion of yghZ gene which encodes a NADPH-dependent aldehyde reductase enzyme results in improved furfural tolerance in Escherichia coli host.

Glioblastoma, a highly lethal form of brain cancer, is characterized by its aggressive growth and resistance to conventional treatments, often resulting in limited survival. The response to therapy is notably influenced by various patient-specific genetic factors, underscoring the disease's complexity. Despite the utilization of diverse treatment modalities such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, many patients experience local relapse, emphasizing the critical need for improved therapeutic strategies to effectively target these formidable tumors.

We study collective dynamics of networks of mutually coupled identical Lorenz oscillators near a subcritical Hopf bifurcation. Such systems exhibit induced multistable behavior with interesting spatiotemporal dynamics including synchronization, desynchronization, and chimera states. For analysis, we first consider a ring topology with nearest-neighbor coupling and find that the system may exhibit intermittent behavior due to the complex basin structures and dynamical frustration, where temporal dynamics of the oscillators in the ensemble switches between different attractors.

A novel small molecule based on benzothiazole-piperazine has been identified as an effective multi-target-directed ligand (MTDL) against Alzheimer's disease (AD). Employing a medicinal chemistry approach, combined with molecular docking, MD simulation, and binding free energy estimation, compound 1 emerged as a potent MTDL against AD. Notably, compound 1 demonstrated efficient binding to both AChE and Aβ1-42, involving crucial molecular interactions within their active sites.

Identification of concomitant miRNAs and transcription factors (TFs) with differential expression (DEGs) in MI is crucial for understanding holistic gene regulation, identifying key regulators, and precision in biomarker and therapeutic target discovery. We performed a comprehensive analysis using Affymetrix microarray data, advanced bioinformatic tools, and experimental validation to explore potential biomarkers associated with human pathology. The search strategy includes the identification of the GSE83500 dataset, comprising gene expression profiles from aortic wall punch biopsies of MI and non-MI patients, which were used in the present study.
