In the age of fathoming biomedical predicaments, ardently emerged the field of materiobiology to effectively counter the archetypal and outdated therapies. Correspondingly, the subpar activity of the over-the-counter wound dressing pharmaceuticals have been dominated with the implementation of biocompatible, water-retaining exotic hydrogels to facilitate accelerated diabetic wound healing. Considering a strategy to develop a pragmatic biomimetic scaffold having the ability of dynamic wound healing with diminutive inflammation, we investigated the creation of graphene quantum dot (GQD)-polyacrylic acid (PAA) hybrid hydrogel.

The terms discussed in this review-biosurfactants (BSs) and bioemulsifiers (BEs)-describe surface-active molecules of microbial origin which are popular chemical entities for many industries, including food. BSs are generally low-molecular-weight compounds with the ability to reduce surface tension noticeably, whereas BEs are high-molecular-weight molecules with efficient emulsifying abilities. Some other biomolecules, such as lecithin and egg yolk, are useful as natural BEs in food products.

A healthy life depends on the inseparable relationship between a host and the gut microbiota. A healthy gut microbiota regulates intestinal integrity, whereas an unbalanced gut microbiota contributes to junctional remodeling and leads to dysbiosis. Bacterial infiltration and dysbiosis are reported to activate a series of pathological cascades that trigger metabolic abnormalities, including diabesity.

The binding affinity of a drug with carrier proteins plays a major role in the distribution and administration of the drug within the body. Tizanidine (TND) is a muscle relaxant having antispasmodic and antispastic effects. Herein, we have studied the effect of tizanidine on serum albumins by spectroscopic techniques, such as absorption spectroscopic analysis, steady, state fluorescence, synchronous fluorescence, circular dichroism, and molecular docking.

Protein misfolding and aggregation is the phenomenon of the generic propensity of proteins, considered as a dark side of the protein world, and its exact mechanism is still not deciphered. Understanding the complexity of protein aggregation is currently the primary apprehension and challenge in biology and medicine due to their association with various debilitating human proteinopathies and neurodegenerative diseases. The mechanism of protein aggregation, associated diseases, and the development of efficient therapeutic strategies against these diseases are very challenging.

Large-area nanoplasmonic structures with pillared metal-insulator geometry, also called nanomushrooms (NM), consist of an active spherical-shaped plasmonic material such as gold as its cap and silicon dioxide as its stem. NM is a geometry which evolves from its precursor, nanoislands (NI) consisting of aforementioned spherical structures on flat silicon dioxide substrates, via selective physical or chemical etching of the silicon dioxide. The NM geometry is well-known to provide enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensitivity in biosensing applications as compared to NI.

In recent years, drug manufacturers and researchers have begun to consider the nanobiotechnology approach to improve the drug delivery system for tumour and cancer diseases. In this article, we review current strategies to improve tumour and cancer drug delivery, which mainly focuses on sustaining biocompatibility, biodistribution, and active targeting. The conventional therapy using cornerstone drugs such as fludarabine, cisplatin etoposide, and paclitaxel has its own challenges especially not being able to discriminate between tumour versus normal cells which eventually led to toxicity and side effects in the patients.

Ionic liquids (ILs), often known as green designer solvents, have demonstrated immense application potential in numerous scientific and technological domains. ILs possess high boiling point and low volatility that make them suitable environmentally benign candidates for many potential applications. The more important aspect associated with ILs is that their physicochemical properties can be effectively changed for desired applications just by tuning the structure of the cationic and/or anionic part of ILs.
