Unlabelled: Obesity is associated with alterations in circulating IGF1, IGF1-binding proteins (IGFBPs), insulin, inflammatory markers, and hormones implicated in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and aging. However, the effects of 4 and 6 h time-restricted eating (TRE) on circulating IGF1 and IGFBPs is uncertain.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of TRE on plasma IGF1, IGFBP1, IGFBP2, and IGFBP3, and whether these effects were mediated by weight loss or body composition changes.

Background: Herbal remedies play a significant role in daily life, regardless of region or ethnicity. While they offer various health benefits, they may also pose risks, including toxicity and undesirable side effects. Pregnant women, one of the most vulnerable populations, frequently use herbal remedies, often without informing their healthcare providers, which can lead to unforeseen consequences for both the mother and the fetus.

HIV-1 non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) play a crucial role in combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). To further enhance their antiviral activity and anti-resistance properties, we developed a series of novel NNRTIs, by specifically targeting tolerant region I of the NNRTI binding pocket. Among them, compound 9t-2 displayed excellent anti-HIV-1 potency against wild-type and prevalent mutant strains with EC values between 0.

Background: Recently we reported results of phase 1 pilot clinical trial of 2 consecutive intracavernous (IC) injection of autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) for the first time in the treatment of diabetic patients with erectile dysfunction (DM-ED). In phase 2 of this study our aim is to evaluate long term safety and efficacy of IC injections of BM-MSC on additional eight patients with DM-ED.
Results: Each patient received 2 consecutive IC injections of BM-MSC and evaluated at 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24-month time points.

Pediatric cardiomyopathies are mostly attributed to variants in sarcomere-related genes. Unfortunately, the genetic architecture of pediatric cardiomyopathies has never been previously studied in Jordan. We sought to uncover the genetic landscape of 14 patients from nine families with several subtypes of pediatric cardiomyopathies in Jordan using Exome sequencing (ES).

As the climate changes, global systems have become increasingly unstable and unpredictable. This is particularly true for many disease systems, including subtypes of highly pathogenic avian influenzas (HPAIs) that are circulating the world. Ecological patterns once thought stable are changing, bringing new populations and organisms into contact with one another.

Curcumin (CUR) is a natural product with known anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective properties. The aim of this study was to formulate CUR into a polymeric nanoparticle (NP) formulation and examine its potential hepatoprotective activity in an animal model of diclofenac (DIC)-induced hepatotoxicity. CUR was loaded into polymeric NPs composed of poly(ethylene glycol)-polycaprolactone (PEG-PCL).

Depression is linked with oxidative stress and inflammation, where key players include nitric oxide (NO), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), and Heme Oxidase-1 (HO-1). Augmenting the efficacy of antidepressants represents a compelling avenue of exploration. We explored the potential of vitamins C and D as adjuncts to escitalopram (Esc) in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression model focusing on the aforementioned biomarkers.

Exposure to water-pipe smoking, whether flavored or unflavored, has been shown to instigate inflammation and oxidative stress in BALB/c mice. This consequently results in alterations in the expression of inflammatory markers and antioxidant genes. This study aimed to scrutinize the impact of Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-a key active component of green tea-on inflammation and oxidative stress in BALB/c mice exposed to water-pipe smoke.
