Investigation of the rs7041 variable of vitamin D-connector protein gene relation with pancreatic involvement in patients with coronavirus disease 2019.

Objective: This study aims to examine whether the presence of mutation exists in the vitamin D-connector protein gene rs7041 variant of the pancreatitis table for patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019.

Methods: A total of 113 patients with normal pancreatic enzyme levels diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 and 120 patients with both coronavirus disease 2019 diagnosis and high pancreatic enzyme levels were included in the study. The rs7041 genotyping of the 11th single nucleotide variation in the vitamin D-connector protein gene was determined by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism methods.

Herein, a new metal-free, molecular chlorine-free, environmentally friendly, atom-economical, short time, inexpensive and simple operation method with mild reaction conditions for chlorination of alkenes, cyclic alkenes, ,-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, heteroaromatics, and natural products was reported with up to 96% yields using trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) as the electrophilic chlorine source and TBACl as the nucleophilic chlorine source. It was demonstrated with bicyclic alkene benzonorbornadiene that regioselective chlorobromination and dibromination reactions can be carried out through TCCA/TBABr redox reactions, where TCCA acts as an oxidant in the presence of TBABr. The structures of the redox products were confirmed as a result of control experiments conducted with the newly presented DBI/TBACl and DBI/TBABr halogenation pairs.

Determination of paclobutrazol using square wave voltammetry based on a molecularly imprinted polymer and boron-doped copper oxide/graphene nanocomposite.

In the present study, a novel voltammetric sensor based on a boron-doped copper oxide/graphene (B-CuO-Gr) nanocomposite and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed for the detection of paclobutrazol (PAC) in apple and orange juice samples. The B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite was prepared using sol-gel and calcination methods. After modifying glassy carbon electrodes with the B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite, PAC-imprinted electrodes were prepared in the presence of 100.

Background: Androgen deprivation is associated with erectile dysfunction (ED). In different animal models, sulfur dioxide (SO) donors NaSO and NaHSO reduced oxidative stress, fibrosis, and inflammation which contribute to the pathogenesis of androgen deprivation-induced ED, however the effect of SO donors on ED in castrated rats were not known.

This study examined the relationship between attitudes toward aging and death anxiety in individuals aged 65 and older with chronic diseases. The study involved 169 participants. Data were collected using Personal Information Form, Turkish Death Anxiety Scale (TDAS), and Attitudes toward Ageing and Elderliness Scale (ATAES).

Examination of Elder Abuse and Death Anxiety in Older Adults With a Chronic Disease.

Aim: This study was conducted to examine elder abuse and death anxiety in older adults who had chronic diseases.

Design: The present study is a cross-sectional and correlational study.

In Vivo Evidence for the Preventive Role of Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton in Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulcer: Focusing on Antioxidant, Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Apoptotic Mechanisms.

The present study aimed to unveil the gastroprotective potential of Vaccinium macrocarpon (VM) extract and its mechanism of action against indomethacin (INDO)-induced gastric ulcers in rats. To achieve this goal, rats were pretreated with either omeprazole (20 mg/kg) or VM (100 mg/kg) orally for 14 consecutive days. Gastric tissue samples were collected and various parameters were evaluated to understand the mechanism of VM's action, including the levels of superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde, glutathione, CAT and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), as well as the mRNA expression levels of tumour necrosis factor alpha, interleukin 1 beta, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and inhibitor kappa B (IκB).

Implementation of written asthma action plan among asthma patients in Türkiye: a multicenter, cross-sectional, descriptive study.

Background/aim: There is currently no data from Türkiye on whether, following a diagnosis of asthma, patients are given an asthma action plan to implement. There is also no data on whether patients can manage their treatment based on the provided asthma action plans. The present study aimed to determine the use of asthma action plans in Türkiye and the awareness levels of patients about these plans.

A Review Study on Molecularly Imprinting Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensors for Food Analysis.

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors have emerged as a powerful tool in biosensing applications due to their ability to provide sensitive and real-time detection of chemical and biological analytes. This review focuses on the development and application of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based SPR sensors for food analysis. By combining the high selectivity of molecular imprinting techniques with the sensitivity of SPR, these sensors offer significant advantages in detecting food contaminants and other target molecules.

Determining food choice motivations in Turkish adults: sustainable and healthy eating behavior, ecological footprint awareness, and food insecurity perspective.

Background: Revealing motivations in food choice and investigating the potential role of sustainable healthy eating behavior, ecological footprint awareness and food security in food choice are important points for a sustainable life. This study was conducted with 5285 adults aged 19-65 residing in Turkey to investigate their food choice motivations in terms of sustainable and healthy eating behavior, ecological footprint awareness, and the food insecurity perspective.

Methods: In this context, the Food Choice Questionnaire, the Sustainable and Healthy Eating Behaviors Scale, the Awareness Scale for Reducing Ecological Footprint and the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale were used.

Acute treadmill exercise induces mitochondrial unfolded protein response in skeletal muscle of male rats.

Mitochondria are often referred to as the energy centers of the cell and are recognized as key players in signal transduction, sensing, and responding to internal and external stimuli. Under stress conditions, the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR), a conserved mitochondrial quality control mechanism, is activated to maintain mitochondrial and cellular homeostasis. As a physiological stimulus, exercise-induced mitochondrial perturbations trigger UPR, coordinating mitochondria-to-nucleus communication and initiating a transcriptional program to restore mitochondrial function.

Evaluation of hyoid bone position, shape, area, volume, and tongue volume.

Purpose: Our study aims to determine the position and types of the hyoid bone and to evaluate the morphometry of the hyoid bone and tongue according to sex.

Methods: Our study included cervical Computed Tomography (CT) images of 200 individuals (100 females, 100 males) between the ages of 18 and 84. Using the 3D Slicer software package, hyoid bone position, shape, area, volume and tongue volume measurements were made on these images.

Objective: Posttraumatic growth (PTG) is a concept that may emerge after a traumatic experience and describes an experience that includes reaching a higher level of development in various areas of life compared to pretrauma. Although everyone is at risk for traumatic experiences, some populations such as minorities may be at more risk for stress, crisis, and trauma. However, there are limited studies that examine the difference between minority and majority groups in terms of variables related to trauma and PTG.

Background: In this study, the effects of university students' sociodemographic characteristics and their thoughts on marriage on their attitudes towards marriage and gender roles were discussed.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was designed, involving a sample of 1082 university students. The data for this study were collected using a socio-demographic questionnaire, the Inönü Marital Attitude Scale (IMAS), and the Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS).

Adaptation of the Epilepsy-Related apathy scale to Turkish in adults with Epilepsy: Validity and reliability study.

Objective: To test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Epilepsy-Related Apathy Scale (E-RAS) in adults with epilepsy.

Methods: In this methodological study, the E-RAS was translated into Turkish using standard procedures and assessed for content validity by a panel of 8 experts. The draft scale was piloted with 10 people to ensure comprehensibility of the questions.

Translation and Psychometric Evaluation of the Profile of Fatigue and Discomfort-Sicca Symptoms Inventory (Short Form) for Patients with Primary Sjögren's Syndrome: Validity and Reliability Analysis of the Turkish Version.

Background: The study aimed to translate the Profile of Fatigue and Discomfort-Sicca Symptoms Inventory Short Form questionnaire into the Turkish language (PROFAD-SSI-SF-T) and to investigate its psychometric properties.

Methods: The study was completed by 104 patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), and 83 patients filled out the scale a second time after 7 days for the retest measurement. The PROFAD-SSISF-T, Functional Assessment Chronic Illness Therapy (Fatigue) (FACIT-F), EULAR Sjögren's Syndrome Patient Reported Index (ESSPRI), European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions (EQ-5D), and Patient Global Assessment (PaGA) were applied to 104 patients with pSS for convergent validity.

Post-earthquake spiritual well-being and depression levels of postpartum women in Turkey.

This study was carried out to examine the spiritual well-being and depression levels of postpartum women following the two major earthquakes that occurred in 2023 with the epicenter Kahramanmaraş in Turkey. This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted with the participation of 345 postpartum women admitted to the maternity ward of a medical faculty hospital in the provincial center of Kahramanmaraş in Turkey between June and September 2023. Data were collected using the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS).
