Background: Apnea testing is mandatory to confirm brain death; however, it is unsafe for patients who have substantial hypoxemia without ventilator support. We used a new modified apnea test without the need to disconnect the patient from the ventilator in the present study and compared the outcomes and complications of the new method to the widely used old method.
Materials And Methods: The current study was conducted on people suspected of having brain death.

Breast cancer poses a significant global health challenge, with Iran experiencing particularly high incidence and mortality rates. Understanding the adaptation process of Iranian breast cancer survivors' post-treatment is crucial. This study explores the health perceptions, barriers, and coping mechanisms of Iranian survivors by integrating Stress-Coping Theory (SCT) and the Health Belief Model (HBM).

Background: This study aims to examine the effects of preperitoneal administration of dexamethasone and bupivacaine surrounding laparoscopic trocars on postoperative pain (POP) and nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).
Method: In this randomized triple-blinded trial with a 1:1 randomization ratio, 104 patients with chronic cholecystitis were candidates for elective LC. A total of 40 mg (8 ml) of bupivacaine was mixed with 8 mg (2 ml) of dexamethasone or normal saline.

Introduction: Previous studies investigated the impact of weight-related abuse (WRA) on eating pathology. However, the circumstances of such an effect are still unclear. Our study aimed to examine the relationship between verbal WRA and binge eating (BE) behavior via attentional bias (AB) to threat cues and difficulties in emotion regulation.

Background: The development of motor competence (MC) during childhood is crucial for future physical activity and health outcomes, and it is affected by both biological and psychosocial factors. Most MC research has focused on children's age, with fewer studies examining separate associations between MC and biological maturation.
Methods: This cross-sectional study used network analysis to assess the nonlinear associations between biological maturation (the child's percentage of predicted mature stature to indicate somatic maturation), chronological age, sex, BMI, and MC (Test of Gross Motor Development, third edition) in 218 children (100 boys, 118 girls) aged 7-9 years.

The increasing demand for advanced biomaterials in nerve tissue engineering presents numerous challenges due to the complexity of nerve tissues and the need for materials that can accurately replicate their intricate structure and function. In response, this study introduces a novel injectable hydrogel that is thermosensitive, self-healing, and conductive, offering promising potential for heart and nerve tissue engineering applications. The hydrogel is based on collagen and hyaluronic acid functionalized with 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTES)-grafted oxidized bacterial cellulose and gold nanoparticles (~50 nm).

Chirality is a fundamental and widespread geometric structural property in living organisms that most biomacromolecules including nucleic acids, proteins and enzymes, possess. Consequently, the development of chiral drugs capable of binding specific targets have gradually gained wide attention in recent decades due to their selective effects on a broad spectrum of biological events ranging from cell metabolism to cell fate. In this context, the synthesis of chiral compounds as promising therapeutic candidates has assumed a major role in drug discovery.

A versatile and atom-economic three-component reaction between 3-cyano-4-styrylcoumarins, 1,3-indandione, and aliphatic alcohols is described for synthesizing diversely multifunctionalized benzocoumarins. This strategy allows facile access to various benzocoumarins bearing an amine and a substituted benzoyl scaffold under simple heating conditions. Readily available precursors, operational simplicity, acceptable functional group tolerance, and excellent yields are some highlighted advantages of this transformation.

Using halloysite clay and vitamin B1 hydrochloride, a novel acidic halloysite-dendrimer catalytic composite has been developed for conversion of fructose to 5-hydroxymthylfurfural. To grow the dendritic moiety on halloysite, it was first functionalized and then reacted with melamine, epichlorohydrin and vitamin B1 hydrochloride respectively. Then, the resulting composite was treated with ZnCl to furnish Lewis acid sites.

The current research divulges the synthesis of two new Schiff base (SB) ( / ) derived from 8-aminoquinoline (8-AMQ) in the presence of 2-hydroxy naphthaldehyde (NAPH) and ortho-vanillin (O-VAN) in CHOH solvent. They are structurally characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR/Raman/UV-vis/DRS/NMR) and SEM-EDX. SB compounds have a biologically active avenue of azomethine/imine group (H-C=N) that can donate N e's to M ions, showing coordinating flexibility.
