Right ventricular heart failure (RV HF) is the leading cause of death in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Relevance of the low-risk status assessment using available diagnostic tools requires a reliable confirmation. The study aimed to evaluate right ventricular perfusion and glucose metabolism using positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) with [13N]-ammonia and [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]-FDG) in 30 IPAH patients (33.

Inducing multiple neurobehavioural and neurochemical deficits, olfactory bulbectomy (OBX) has been developed as a rodent model of depression with potential for antidepressant drug screening. However, the generality of this model in other vertebrate taxa remains poorly understood. A small freshwater teleost fish, the zebrafish (Danio rerio), is rapidly becoming a common model species in neuroscience research.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is known to be the most important environmental carcinogen for cutaneous melanoma. While genomic analyses of melanoma tumors implicate a high rate of UV damage, the experimental induction and recovery of bona fide UV-signature changes have not been directly observed. To replicate recurrent UV mutations from TCGA_SKCM specimens, we UV-irradiated cultured immortalized human melanocytes and subjected them to in vivo tumorigenesis assays.

The burden of heart failure (HF) has been increasing worldwide in recent decades. Early diagnosis of HF based on the outpatient measurement of natriuretic peptide (NP) concentration will allow timely initiation of the treatment and reducing the incidence of adverse outcomes in HF. Unfortunately, the frequency of NP testing remains low worldwide.

We present a case of successful implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) using combined technique in a child with Timothy's syndrome. Due to high risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) such patients often need ICD for primary or secondary prevention but implantation technique in young children remains controversial. The subcutaneous cardioverter-defibrillators could be an option in some cases, however, reliable cardiac pacing should be implemented for patients with bradyarrhythmias.

The bispecific T cell-binding antibody blinatumomab (CD19/CD3) is widely and successfully used for the treatment of children with relapsed or refractory B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL). Here, we report the efficacy of a single course of blinatumomab instead of consolidation chemotherapy to eliminate minimal residual disease (MRD) and maintain stable MRD-negativity in children with primary BCP-ALL.Between February 2020 and November 2022, 177 children with non-high-risk BCP-ALL were enrolled in the ALL-MB 2019 pilot study (NCT04723342).

In this study, we have considered four types of nanoparticles (NPs): polylactic acid (PLA), gold (Au), calcium carbonate (CaCO), and silica (SiO) with similar sizes (TEM: 50-110 nm and DLS: 110-140 nm) to examine their passive accumulation in three different tumors: colon (CT26), melanoma (B16-F10), and breast (4T1) cancers. Our results demonstrate that each tumor model showed a different accumulation of NPs, in the following order: CT26 > B16-F10 > 4T1. The Au and PLA NPs were evidently characterized by a higher delivery efficiency in case of CT26 tumors compared to CaCO and SiO NPs.

Introduction: Experimental studies on animals have demonstrated a higher neuroprotective efficacy of hypercapnic hypoxia compared to normocapnic hypoxia. Respiratory training with hypercapnic hypoxia has shown a positive impact on the functional state of the nervous system in children with cerebral palsy (CP). It can be presumed that the combined effect of moderate hypercapnia and hypoxia will be promising for clinical application within the context of early rehabilitation after ischemic stroke.
