Attachment-Retained versus Clasp-Retained Removable Partial Dentures: Effects of Retention on Patient Satisfaction.

Objectives:  To compare the retention and patient satisfaction of attachment-retained versus clasp-retained removable partial dentures (RPDs) over time and to evaluate the impact of retention force on patient satisfaction.

Materials And Methods:  This study included 107 patients with 130 RPDs at the University Dentistry Clinical Center, Prishtina, Kosovo. Patients were divided into two groups: clasp-retained RPDs ( = 79) and attachment-retained RPDs ( = 51).

EVALUATION OF DENTAL AND PERIODONTAL STATUS IN CHILDREN WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES MELLITUS.

Unlabelled: Diabetes mellitus is a well-known predisposing factor for oral diseases.

Aim: To evaluate dental caries and periodontal status of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).

Materials And Methods: Eighty children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (age 10-15 years) have received a comprehensive oral health examination, that included the DMFT index for permanent teeth, plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and stimulated salivary flow rate (SSFR).

Mental health landscape in Kosova from 2017 to 2022: A retrospective study of antidepressant and anxiolytic market trends and the impact of COVID-19.

Objectives: This study explores the mental health situation in Kosova and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Marketed quantities of antidepressants (N06A) and anxiolytics (N05B) from 2017 to 2022 were analyzed using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical/Defined Daily Doses (ATC/DDD) methodology. Caution is advised as these quantities may not directly reflect patient usage and could include uses for conditions outside their primary indications.

Optimization of a mass spectrometric analytical method for the quality assessment of insulin and its analogs.

The principal aim of this study was to optimize analytical methodology based on mass spectrometry for the evaluation of the quality of recombinant human insulin and its analogs. In this study ESI-MS was used to assess the quality of human insulin, short acting insulin analogs, insulin lispro, insulin aspart and insulin glulisine and long acting analogs including insulin glargine, insulin degludec, and insulin detemir, in respective pharmaceutical formulations. In this study, with the aimed to optimize analytical conditions, different factors influencing the analytical performance such as pH, ionic strength, sample dilution, organic solvent addition were addressed.

Excessive Self-Medication with Prescription NSAIDs: A Cross-Sectional Study in Kosovo.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used to manage pain, fever, and inflammation. Although most are usually classified as prescription-only medicines, in many countries they are frequently purchased for self-medication purposes. This study explores NSAID-usage patterns in Kosovo, aiming for a safer and more effective medicinal use.

Psychometric properties of two implementation measures: Normalization MeAsure Development questionnaire (NoMAD) and organizational readiness for implementing change (ORIC).

Background: Effective interventions need to be implemented successfully to achieve impact. Two theory-based measures exist for measuring the effectiveness of implementation strategies and monitor implementation progress. The Normalization MeAsure Development questionnaire (NoMAD) explores the four core concepts (Coherence, Cognitive Participation, Collective Action, Reflexive Monitoring) of the Normalization Process Theory.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrine disorder that affects women of reproductive age. Aim - to determine the association between body mass index, hirsutism, acne, and hormonal status with Polycystic ovary syndrome. This cross-sectional study included 55 women with PCOS, between the ages of 18 and 39 who attended the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK).

Evaluation and comparison of patient satisfaction with VertexThermosens and conventional acrylic complete dentures.

Objectives: Patient perception and satisfaction with dentures are important indicators in prosthodontic treatment. This study aimed to compare patients' satisfaction with VertexThermosens dentures versus conventional acrylic dentures during a 12-month study period.

Material And Methods: This randomized study involved 60 participants aged between 45 and 80 with representation of both sexes.

POSTNATAL CARE AMONG POSTPARTUM WOMEN DURING HOSPITAL DISCHARGE.

The postpartum period is the most important part of the woman's health care, as serious and life-threatening complications can occur during this period. The purpose of this study was to gather information on women's perception regarding postnatal care. The study enrolled 100 postpartum women who attended all the postnatal services at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic in Pristina, Kosovo.

Injuries in professional women's elite soccer players in Kosovo: epidemiological injury study.

Background: An emphasis has been given lately towards women's engagement together with their potential in soccer. As this sport develops with athletes becoming more physically fit and skilled, it is unclear what the consequences in terms of injuries are. Having this in mind, this study aimed to investigate the major injuries that occur in women's soccer players.

Predicting Risk Factors of Lower Extremity Injuries in Elite Women's Football: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

This study identified and analyzed the risk factors of lower extremity injuries (LEI) in elite women football players to improve career and health outcomes. To address this aim, a systematic review and meta-analysis methodology was used. In total, four relevant research articles were identified through database searching and screening using the PRISMA flow diagram.

Training vs. Tolerance: The Yin/Yang of the Innate Immune System.

For almost nearly a century, memory functions have been attributed only to acquired immune cells. Lately, this paradigm has been challenged by an increasing number of studies revealing that innate immune cells are capable of exhibiting memory-like features resulting in increased responsiveness to subsequent challenges, a process known as trained immunity (known also as innate memory). In contrast, the refractory state of endotoxin tolerance has been defined as an immunosuppressive state of myeloid cells portrayed by a significant reduction in the inflammatory capacity.

Volatile Constituents of Some Selected Plant Species Traditionally Used as Tea in the Sharri Mountains (Kosovo).

The study evaluates the chemical composition of the volatile constituents of ten plant species traditionally used as herbal tea in the Sharri Mountain regions (Kosovo and North Macedonia). Volatile constituents responsible for the flavour and fragrance of selected species (, , , , and ) were separated and then identified using GC-MS, whereas GC-FID is employed for the quantitative analysis. Experimental data revealed different patterns of volatile constituents depending on plant species.

A rare case of thoracic-abdominal aortic aneurysm in conjunction with bilateral superficial femoral artery occlusion, documented with computed tomography angiography.

Aneurysms represent bulging of the weakened blood vessel area, as a result of cystic medial degeneration. Aneurysms chance of rupturing increases over time, resulting in bleeding and death. Therefore, patients with aortic aneurysms require frequent monitoring with magnetic resonance and computed tomography angiography, as well as undergoing open repair surgery and endovascular aneurysm repair.

Choroid Plexus Papilloma - Case Presentation.

Aim: Choroid plexus papilloma (CPP) according to the latest WHO classification system in 2016 are an uncommon, benign (WHO grade I) neuroepithelial intraventricular tumor derived from choroid plexus epithelium, which can occur in both the pediatric and adult population. These tumors account for approximately 1% of all brain tumor 2-6% of pediatric brain tumors and 0.5% of adult brain tumors.
