Dupilumab is currently approved for the treatment of Type 2 severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Few studies have specifically reported on dupilumab efficacy on asthma outcomes as a primary objective in a real-life setting, in patients with and without CRSwNP. Our study aimed to explore the efficacy of dupilumab on functional, inflammatory, and patient-reported outcomes in asthma patients across different disease phenotypes and severity, including mild-to-moderate asthma coexisting with CRSwNP.

Background: Hypersensitivity reactions to drugs are unpredictable and can be very complex and severe, even life threatening. Assess its impact on patient's health related quality of life (HRQoL) is crucial. The Drug Hypersensitivity Quality of Life Questionnaire (DrHy-Q) is the only validated disease-specific HRQoL questionnaire.

Background: The international guideline for urticaria recommends the use of the Urticaria Activity Score 7 (UAS7) and the Chronic Urticaria Quality of Life Questionnaire (CU-Q2oL) to assess patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) for their disease activity and impact on quality of life, respectively. Over the last decade, both tools have been validated in many different languages but not in Arabic.
Objective: To validate the Arabic UAS7 and CU-Q2oL in patients with CSU in Lebanon.

Asthma, allergic rhinitis (AR) and atopic dermatitis are very common in young people, but in the latest decades it was increasingly recognized that also individuals of higher ages, including the population over 65 years, are concerned. Actually, it is now acknowledged the aging does not considerably alter the immune response to allergens. Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is the only treatment that works on the causes of allergy, but elderly people are commonly excluded from AIT, except the cases of insect sting allergy.

Severe bronchial asthma affects at least 5% of the asthmatic population and remains a clinical challenge. Data from the UK National Registry for Severe Asthma suggest that dedicated centers may improve asthma control, quality of life, reduce healthcare use and oral steroid burden. A multidisciplinary approach through complete lung function evaluation, optimization of adherence to treatment and immunological characterization are key issues to improve patients' care.

Objective: In daily practice, Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) tools are useful for supplementing clinical data with the patient's perspective. To encourage their use by clinicians, the availability of tools that can quickly provide valid results is crucial. A new HRQoL tool has been proposed for patients with asthma and rhinitis: the RhinAsthma Patient Perspective-RAPP.

The pathophysiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) includes persistent airflow limitation, altered gas exchange, and enhanced chronic inflammatory response. According to disease severity in individual patients, exacerbations and comorbidities frequently occur. The overall nocturnal and daily symptoms have a strong impact on patient quality of life and clinical outcomes.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common genetic disorders in the Caucasian population, with estimated between 70,000 and 100,000 patients worldwide. Even if improved diagnostics and clinical management have led to an increased life expectancy, CF still remains a disease that significantly impacts patients' life in terms of symptoms, daily functioning, psychological morbidity and health related quality of life. Available data suggest that symptoms of anxiety and depression, such as in other chronic conditions, are common features in CF patients and in their caregivers, with a significant impact on disease outcomes.

Background: Patient's expectations and needs may influence adherence in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The objectives of this survey were to assess the specific outcomes that patients expected their COPD treatment to improve (patient's personal outcome [PPO]) and to evaluate how the ongoing therapy was able to reach this objective.
Methods: We performed an exploratory pragmatic survey of COPD patients attending 2 university hospitals for scheduled follow-up visits.

The increasing interest about dispositional optimism's role in health status and its positive modulating effect on health outcomes has led to a remarkable scientific production in the last decade. To date lot is known for which diseases optimism is relevant, instead much less is known about how optimism interacts with other factors, both biological and psychological, in determining health status. The aim of this mini review is to explore the literature derived from clinical and experimental research assessing the associations between dispositional optimism and health status.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) to mannitol and bronchial inflammation measured as exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) and to assess whether asthma control correlates with AHR to mannitol and FeNO in atopic asthmatic children.
Material And Methods: Allergy evaluation, the mannitol challenge test, FeNO levels and the Asthma Control Test (ACT) questionnaire were assessed in 40 children with intermittent and mild persistent allergic asthma.
Results: All the subjects showed positive AHR to mannitol.

Background: One of the main problem health care systems are facis is the mis-use and over-use of medical resources (including useless exams, surgical interventions, medical treatments, screening procedures…) which may lead to high health care related costs without increased patients' benefit and possible harm to the patients themselves. The "Choosing wisely" campaign, in Italy denominated "Doing more does not mean doing better", tries to educate doctors and citizens at a correct use of medical resources.
Methods: the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC) adhered to the "Doing more does not mean doing better" campaing and made a list of the 5 allergological procedures with the highest evidence of inappropriateness.
