Introduction: Early diagnosis and successful treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) demands rapid, precise, and consistent diagnostic methods to minimise the development of resistance. Therefore, this comparative study was designed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of Xpert (MTB/RIF) and Line probe assay (LPA) for detecting drug-resistant TB.
Methodology: This study comprised 389 (279 pulmonary and 110 extrapulmonary) samples from patients suspected of having TB.

Background: Heart Failure (HF) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) often coexist, and each condition independently increases the likelihood of developing the other. While there has been concern regarding the increasing burden of disease for both conditions individually over the last decade, a comprehensive examination of mortality trends and demographic and regional disparities needs to be thoroughly explored in the United States (US).
Methods: This study analyzed death certificates from the CDC WONDER database, focusing on mortality caused by the co-occurrence of HF and DM in adults aged 75 and older from 1999 to 2020.
A 36-year-old male presented with dizziness and melena 5 years post laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB). Initial treatments with proton pump inhibitors and blood transfusions was followed by esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and CT angiography, identifying an active arterial bleed at the gastrojejunal anastomosis. Super-selective celiac artery coil embolization successfully controlled the bleeding.

Background: Bystander-initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can improve survival rates in individuals with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Two CPR approaches are commonly utilized, standard (S-CPR) with mouth-to-mouth breathing and compression-only (CO-CPR). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare clinical outcomes associated with S-CPR versus CO-CPR in OHCA.

The review explores differences in operative times, complication rates, conversion rates, and recovery times among obese patients undergoing these surgical procedures. The findings indicate that while laparoscopic cholecystectomy in obese patients tends to require longer operative times, it does not significantly increase complication rates compared to open cholecystectomy.
