The growing incidence of obesity and the rising trend of increased age during pregnancy have led to a high number of pregnant women with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Chronic hypertension is commonly associated with CKD and is not only the result of renal damage but is also the cause of declining renal function. Pregnancy and its unique physiological adaptations are affected by a decrease in the filtration capacity of the kidneys.

Background: Globally, diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the primary cause of chronic kidney disease. Currently, renal function is monitored indirectly using measures of serum creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and proteinuria. Novel urinary biomarkers utilized in the early stages of DN have been described; these indicators can be used in the early identification of the disease, which is important for initiating treatment to halt or impediment the advance of diabetic nephropathy.

Germ cell tumors, the most common of the testicular neoplasms, originate from primordial germ cells. These tumors are known for their totipotent nature, capable of differentiating into various cell types. This case report presents a rare occurrence of mucinous cystadenoma in a patient who received chemotherapy for metastatic left non-seminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT) of the testis.

Introduction Efficient and practical healthcare based on prognostic indicators can reduce morbidity and mortality in hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) predicts clinical outcomes and respiratory failure in SARS-CoV-2 patients, but additional research is needed. Among other characteristics, we aimed to evaluate the predictive value of suPAR in COVID-19 patients.

Purpose: Undernutrition in children is a critical worldwide concern that hampers both their physical and cognitive growth. The nutritional status of school-going children and adolescents remains insufficiently addressed with no comprehensive data. This is the first study from the Himalayan foothills that aims to assess the clinical and laboratory aspects of anemia with micronutrient status in undernourished children above the age of five along with association of clinical features with anemia severity.

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) poses significant diagnostic challenges, especially in resource-limited settings. Reliable tools such as the 6-item Symptom Severity Index, Timed Phalen's Test (TPT) and CTS-6 are promising but under investigated. Correlation between these tools and symptom severity remains underexplored.

Introduction: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) frequently experience neuropsychiatric conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive impairment, which not only significantly diminish their quality of life, but also contribute to longer hospitalizations, poor treatment adherence, and increased mortality. This hospital-based cross-sectional study aimed to investigate neuropsychiatric complications in CKD patients, focusing on gender differences, and clinical and other sociodemographic factors.
Materials And Methods: Diagnosis of CKD was based on the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria, and patients aged 18 years or above were included.

Introduction: The cut-off for referral to a higher center and further investigations for the delayed passage of first urine and meconium by a neonate have been traditionally kept after 48 hours of birth. There are very few studies regarding this in Indian neonates, and previous studies have relied primarily on the mother's recall of the event which may have led to recall bias. Therefore, through this study, we wanted to use hospital intake/output records to identify the risk factors that affect the timing of passage of first urine and stool in neonates delivered at our center and to find out if the cut-off of 48 hours to call it a delay is justifiable.

Introduction: Intravenous iron sucrose (IVIS) is a rapidly acting, safe, and effective treatment for moderate anemia among pregnant women. The effectiveness of IVIS at 6 months post IVIS infusion was unknown. We, therefore, assessed the mean increase in hemoglobin concentration and body iron replenishment status at 6 months after the last dose of IVIS infusion.

Background: About a third of the world's population is estimated to suffer from anaemia, and iron deficiency is expected to account for about half of all anaemia cases. This study was designed to get an estimate of the proportion of patients with iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) who have a significant gastrointestinal (GI) pathology, in particular a GI malignancy, and to identify any risk factors or predictors for the same.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at a hospital in Eastern India.

Background: Uncontrolled diabetes persists despite guideline-based treatment, partly attributed to inadequate patient involvement. This research addresses shared decision-making by eliciting patient preferences in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) treatment based on certain key attributes and explores their correlation with socio-demographic-clinical profiles.
Methods: A discrete choice experiment (DCE) was conducted among T2DM outpatients in an Indian tertiary care center.

Dexter energy transfer (DET) of triplet electronic states is used to direct energy in photovoltaics, quench reactive singlet oxygen species in biological systems, and generate them in photodynamic therapy. However, the extent to which repeated DET between aromatic residues can lead to triplet energy migration in proteins has not been investigated. Here, we computationally describe DET rates in microtubules, actin filaments and the intermediate filament, vimentin.

CYP1B1 is the most common gene implicated in primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) - the most common form of childhood glaucoma. How CYP1B1 mutations cause PCG is not known. Understanding the mechanism of PCG caused by CYP1B1 mutations is crucial for disease management, therapeutics development, and potential prevention.
