Veronaea botryosa induced cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis in a renal transplant recipient- An intriguing report from India.

We describe a rare case of cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis by Veronaea botryosa in a renal transplant recipient from India. The patient presented with a nodule on the dorsum of right hand which resolved completely after 6 months of voriconazole therapy. The identity of the fungus was confirmed by sequencing internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA.

A novel dual-staining method for cost-effective visualization and differentiation of microbial biofilms.

Microbial biofilms are intricate communities that pose significant challenges in clinical and microbiological settings due to their resistance to antibiotics and immune responses. Advanced microscopy techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and fluorescence microscopy, are often employed to visualize and differentiate between these biofilms. However, these methods are not feasible in all laboratories because of their high cost and complexity.

Classification of colorectal cancer patients based on serum micronutrients: An exploratory investigation.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a growing global health challenge with a multifactorial etiology encompassing genetic susceptibility, nutrition, and inflammation in the bowel.

This study adopts a case-control design with an aim to investigate the association of Val66Met polymorphism and peripheral BDNF (serum) levels in patients of major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy individuals (controls).

Cariprazine-Induced Extrapyramidal Symptoms and a Rare Downward Eye Deviation in Oculogyric Crisis: A Case Series.

Cariprazine is one of the newer generation antipsychotics with dopamine receptor partial agonist activity which has been approved for management of schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. It is known to have lesser propensity to cause extrapyramidal adverse effects due to D2 and D3 partial agonism. We intend to disseminate our newly acquired experience regarding tolerability and the adverse effect profile of cariprazine.

Purpose: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has emerged as a promising alternative therapeutic modality for bipolar depression. Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) a novel variant of rTMS is currently evolving as an effective and safe therapeutic tool in the management of bipolar depression, although it is still in the initial phase. In the present systematic review and meta-analysis, data from various studies investigating the effectiveness and tolerability of TBS in individuals with bipolar depression were synthesized.
