SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells have been extensively used as an in vitro model system in a diverse range of studies involving neurodevelopment, neurotoxicity, neurodegeneration, and neuronal ageing. Both naïve and differentiated phenotypes of SH-SY5Y cells are utilized to model human neurons under in vitro conditions. The process of differentiation causes extensive remodeling of neuronal cells at multiple omic levels, including the epigenome and proteome.

Introduction: A minority of addiction patients receive appropriate treatment directly from trained professionals in addiction medicine. Most countries have not recognized addiction medicine (AM) as a specialty in its own right or within psychiatry/other specialties. Therefore, the effectiveness and organization of AM training around the world need to be improved.

Background: The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) has an important role in the growth of neurons and synaptic transmission. The BDNF gene Val66Met polymorphism (G/A) is associated with depression, but findings have not been consistently replicated. This study adopts a case-control design with an aim to investigate the association of Val66Met polymorphism and peripheral BDNF (serum) levels in patients of major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy individuals (controls).

Cariprazine is one of the newer generation antipsychotics with dopamine receptor partial agonist activity which has been approved for management of schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. It is known to have lesser propensity to cause extrapyramidal adverse effects due to D2 and D3 partial agonism. We intend to disseminate our newly acquired experience regarding tolerability and the adverse effect profile of cariprazine.

Purpose: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has emerged as a promising alternative therapeutic modality for bipolar depression. Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) a novel variant of rTMS is currently evolving as an effective and safe therapeutic tool in the management of bipolar depression, although it is still in the initial phase. In the present systematic review and meta-analysis, data from various studies investigating the effectiveness and tolerability of TBS in individuals with bipolar depression were synthesized.

Objective: The National Mental Health Survey identified a vast treatment gap across India. This treatment gap is partly attributed to the availability and accessibility of mental health services in different states. Accessibility to a psychiatrist in Madhya Pradesh (MP) is essential due to the significant disparity among urban, rural, and tribal regions across the state.

Plasma cell gingivitis and cheilitis are diagnostic challenges for dental practitioners. To the best of the authors' knowledge, concomitant plasma cell gingivitis and plasma cell cheilitis in the same patient has not been reported in the dental literature, although these conditions have been reported separately (on lips and gingiva) several times. Underreporting of these coexisting clinical conditions may be attributed to a lack of awareness of both conditions and underperformance of comprehensive histopathological examinations.

Hip arthroscopy has emerged as the primary surgical intervention for Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome (FAIS), a common cause of hip pain in young adults, particularly athletes. This narrative review examines the long-term outcomes, complications, and debates surrounding arthroscopic management of FAIS. Key findings include sustained improvements in patient-reported outcomes, return to sport, and functional recovery, particularly in younger patients and those with cam-type FAIS.

Aim: Therapeutic latency, lack of response, and adverse drug reactions are major challenges in current treatment approaches for major depressive disorder (MDD). Following the success of ketamine, more clinical research on NMDA antagonists is needed for a safe and long-term therapy in MDD. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adjunct dextromethorphan to SSRIs in MDD.
