The function of CD5 protein in T cells is well documented, but regulation of its surface-level expression has yet to be fully understood. However, variation in its surface expression is associated with various immunopathological conditions and haematological malignancies. Briefly, expression of an alternate exon E1B of a human endogenous retroviruses (HERV) origin directly downregulates the conventional transcript variant (E1A), as its expression leads to the retention of the resultant protein at the intracellular level (cCD5).

Background: Radiocontrast administration during interventional neuroradiology (INR) procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) can add to renal insult. Serum creatinine (sCr) is a conventional marker of acute kidney injury (AKI). Serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (sNGAL) is a novel marker which is increasingly used to predict renal injury in susceptible patients.

Purpose And Background: To assess feasibility and functional acceptability of lateral calcaneal artery fascio-cutaneous flap (LCAFCF) in providing cover to posterior heel defects in single stage.
Aims And Objectives: To provide stable and sensate cover to small and moderate posterior heel defects.
Materials And Methods: This review was conducted in department of Burns & Plastic Surgery of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, Haryana between October 2021 and September 2022 to analyse the clinical outcome of LCAFCF in 24 patients (18 males, 6 females) aged between 20 and 35 years who had chronic dry wounds = 9, failed primary reconstruction by reverse sural flap = 1, granulated wounds = 8, exposed achilles tendons = 4 and scarred tissue restricting ankle joint movements = 2 in region of posterior heel following trauma, while riding motor-cycle.

Background And Aims: Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a minor but distressing complication following general anesthesia. The current literature on the effect of preoperative nebulization with dexmedetomidine, or ketamine on POST is, however, sparse. So, we compared the effect of preoperative nebulization with these drugs on POST.

Introduction: Today, endovascular treatment (EVT) is the therapy of choice for strokes due to acute large vessel occlusion, irrespective of prior thrombolysis. This necessitates fast, coordinated multi-specialty collaboration. Currently, in most countries, the number of physicians and centres with expertise in EVT is limited.

Acute neurological insult can trigger a cascade of events in other organ systems such as the heart and lung. Neurogenic stunned myocardium (NSM) and Neurogenic pulmonary edema (NPE) are mostly reported after stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, or seizures whenever sympathetic storm and autonomic dysregulation occurs. We report here for the first time, a case of postoperative infratentorial extradural hematoma in a patient triggering NSM and NPE at the same time.

Background: Robotic-Assisted Hysterectomies (RAH) require Trendelenburg positioning and pneumoperitoneum, which further accentuate alteration in respiratory mechanics induced by general anesthesia. The role of Recruitment Maneuver (RM) as a lung-protective strategy during intraoperative surgical settings has not been much studied. We planned this study to evaluate the effect of RM on perioperative oxygenation and postoperative spirometry using PaO/FiO and FEV1/FVC, respectively in patients undergoing RAH.

Introduction: There is limited literature on the representation of women in leading roles in neuroanesthesiology and neurocritical care academia. We aimed to determine the representation of women as first and corresponding authors in articles published in 3 dedicated journals of neuroanesthesiology and neurocritical care during last 5 years.
Methods: Articles published in the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology, Neurocritical Care, and Journal of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2020 were included in this study.

Background And Aims: Induction of general anaesthesia is associated with development of atelectasis in the lungs, which may further lead to postoperative pulmonary complications. Inverse ratio ventilation (IRV) has shown to improve oxygenation and minimise further lung injury in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. We evaluated the safety and effectiveness of IRV on intraoperative respiratory mechanics and postoperative pulmonary function tests (PFTs).

Among the several medical specialties, anesthesiologists are probably the most affected ones from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic as they are at the frontline. In the present stage of the pandemic, where we are observing community transmission, more people with elective neurologic and neurosurgical problems are likely to be tested positive for this virulent disease. Neuroanesthesiologists play an important role in the perioperative period and in neuroradiology suite.

The radiological appearance of common primary hepatic tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is widely recognized. Hepatic masses with unusual histology are occasionally encountered, but seldom suspected on imaging. However, many possess characteristic imaging findings, which when assessed along with the clinical and demographic background and serum tumor markers, may enable a prospective diagnosis.

Over the past few years, the concept of personalized medicine has percolated into the management of different neurological conditions. Improving outcomes after acute brain injury (ABI) continues to be a major challenge. Unrecognized individual multiomic variations in addition to multiple interacting processes may explain why we fail to observe comprehensive improvements in ABI outcomes even when applied treatments appear to be beneficial logically.
