Anti-signal recognition particle (anti-SRP)-positive necrotising myopathy causes severe progressive proximal weakness with a propensity to involve pharyngeal, laryngeal and respiratory muscles. It is one of the aggressive inflammatory myopathies. First-line treatment is with high-dose steroids followed by other immunosuppressants, but this conventional therapy is often ineffective.

To investigate the frequency, profile, and severity of COVID-19 breakthrough infections (BI) in patients with type I diabetes mellitus (T1DM) compared to healthy controls (HC) after vaccination. The second COVID-19 Vaccination in Autoimmune Diseases (COVAD-2) survey is a multinational cross-sectional electronic survey which has collected data on patients suffering from various autoimmune diseases including T1DM. We performed a subgroup analysis on this cohort to investigate COVID-19 BI characteristics in patients with T1DM.

All national and international pediatric guidelines universally prescribe meticulous bilirubin screening for neonates as a critical measure to mitigate the incidence of acute bilirubin encephalopathy (ABE) and Kernicterus. The prevailing gold standard for jaundice detection in neonates necessitates invasive blood collection, followed by subsequent biochemical testing. While the invasive procedure provides dependable bilirubin measurements and continues to be the sole gold standard diagnostic method for assessing bilirubin concentration.

Objectives: We prospectively implemented a diagnostic stewardship care-bundle checklist, 'Sepsis-48 DSB', with the aim of reducing intervening duration of key steps of automated blood culture diagnostics (aBCD).
Methods: Sepsis-48 DSB was implemented for automated blood culture bottles (BCBs) received from adult intensive care units (AICUs) during the intervention period (P2; July 2020-June 2021) and intervening durations were compared with those during the retrospective, pre-intervention period (P1; March-June 2020). During both periods, provisional blood culture reports (pBCR) were issued wherein direct microbial identification (dID) was performed in BCBs with Gram-negatives by directly inoculating conventional biochemical tests and direct antimicrobial susceptibility testing (dAST) using EUCAST RAST method.

Introduction: PICU admission of a child may cause anxiety and stress among the caregivers. The criteria for admission to a PICU are terrifying and may legitimately cause parents to fear that their child may pass away or suffer a serious disability. They may be overburdened with stress and anxiety of illness and compliment medical information while trying to maintain a balance with other family demands.

Ewing's Sarcomas (ES)/Peripheral neuroectodermal tumour (pPNET) are heterogenous group of rare, highly malignant, undifferentiated primitive round-cell neoplasms of neuroectodermal origin. pPNETs are seldom observed to involve the spine of which Spinal Intradural Extramedullary Extraosseous Primary ES/pPNET are extremely rare. We report a case of a 23-year-old male with complaints of low backache and hip pain radiating to the left inguinal region for four months.

Background & Objectives: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is characterized by increase in blood glucose levels due to defective insulin secretion or insulin sensitivity. Interleukins (ILs) are known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of DM. The aim of this study was to investigate the serum concentration of IL-33 and its receptor soluble ST2 (sST2) in patients with diabetes and draw a correlation between their serum levels and different standard glycaemic indices of patients affected with type-2 diabetes with or without metabolic syndrome.

There is evidence that few trace elements in the environment work as hazardous materials in terms of their exposure in the perinatal period, causing autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) in children, and avoiding these exposures in the environment can reduce the number of new cases. This perspective study provides preliminary evidence to consider a few trace elements as culprits for ASD. More studies with larger cohorts are needed, but meanwhile, as per available evidence, exposure to these hazardous materials must be warranted during pregnancy and early stages of life.

Purpose: High-grade gliomas are highly fatal disease with poor prognosis despite multimodality management. Inflammatory biomarkers are widely used for prognostication in various solid malignancies to stratify high risk patients. The current research was conducted to investigate whether any change in neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) during adjuvant chemoradiotherapy has any prognostic significance in high-grade glioma patients.

Diabetes mellitus is a widespread chronic metabolic disorder that requires regular blood glucose level surveillance. Current invasive techniques, such as finger-prick tests, often result in discomfort, leading to infrequent monitoring and potential health complications. The primary objective of this study was to design a novel, portable, non-invasive system for diabetes detection using breath samples, named DiabeticSense, an affordable digital health device for early detection, to encourage immediate intervention.

Dendritic cell-derived exosomes (Dex) have overcome the disadvantages associated with dendritic cell (DC) vaccines, such as cost effectiveness, stability, and sensitivity to the systemic microenvironment. However, in clinical trials, Dex failed to provide satisfactory results because of many reasons, including inadequate maturation of DC as well as the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Hence, culturing DCs in the presence of a maturation cocktail showed an induced expression of MHCs and co-stimulatory molecules.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) associated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected millions of people worldwide and declared a Public Health Emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO) on January 30, 2020. Albeit, unprecedented efforts have been made from the scientific community to understand the pathophysiology of COVID-19 disease, the host immune and inflammatory responses are not explored well in the Indian population. Continuous arrival of new variants fascinated the scientists to understand the host immune processes and to eradicate this deadly virus.

Background: Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have been recommended in the practice guidelines for the treatment of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction; however, their effects among patients with preserved ejection fraction have been debatable.
Objective: We aim to evaluate the SGLT2 inhibitor effect among patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, including DELIVER and EMPEROR-Preserved trials.
Methods: We performed a systematic literature search using the PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane libraries for relevant articles from inception until August 30th, 2022.

Rectal polyps are finger-like projections of the mucosal surface that generally present with complaints of bleeding or mass per rectum. Polyps are classified histopathologically as neoplastic and non-neoplastic. Here, we present one such rare case of a middle-childhood boy who presented with complaints of bleeding per-rectum and revealed a 1.
