Background: Intravenous (IV) diltiazem and metoprolol are commonly used to achieve rate control for atrial fibrillation with RVR (Afib with RVR), and are both recommended as first-line by current guidelines. While prior studies investigated the efficacy of these medications, there is little evidence available regarding the risk of adverse events (AEs) with their use.
Methods: We identified randomized controlled trials (RCT) and observational studies reporting rates of AEs following administration of IV diltiazem and metoprolol for Afib with RVR by searching PubMed, SCOPUS, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library.
When an understanding of pathogenesis exists, skin lesions that have the appearance of blood in the skin can provide insight into the mechanisms leading to a systemic process that results in cutaneous manifestations. Of the vascular disturbances of the skin that occur in patients who are critically ill, some result from a nonhemorrhagic process, whereas others represent bleeding into the skin. The lesions of livedo, petechiae, purpura, and ecchymoses can be approached from such a perspective.

Introduction: Sedating and anesthetic drugs are widely used in clinical practice; however, relevant teaching remains underrepresented in undergraduate medical education. We developed a 2-hour flipped classroom activity integrating foundational science topics, evidence-based medicine, and clinical reasoning on anesthetic pharmacology for preclinical medical students.
Methods: Presession, second-year medical students reviewed a study guide and completed a readiness assessment.

This work expands on the National Council for Mental Wellbeing whitepaper Quality Measurement in Crisis Services. The authors present 2 approaches to measure development: The first maps flow through the crisis continuum and defines metrics for each step of the process. The second uses the mnemonic ACCESS TO HELP to define system values, from the perspective of various stakeholders, with corresponding metrics.

Despite the success of health programs conducted within African American (AA) churches, research has been limited in understanding the facilitators and barriers of conducting adult health programs in churches led by female AA pastors/leaders. In addition, research has yet to analyze the effect of policy on these church-based health programs. Thus, this pilot study's objective is to use the socio-ecological model (SEM) as a framework to explore female AA pastors' and church leaders' perspectives, in the U.

Health professions education (HPE) has witnessed a dramatic increase in the use of extended reality (XR), but there is limited evidence that conceptual frameworks are being effectively employed in the design and implementation of XR. This paper introduces commonly utilized conceptual frameworks that can support the integration of XR into the learning process and design principles that can be helpful for the development and evaluation of XR educational applications. Each framework and design principle is summarized briefly, followed by a description of its applicability to XR for HPE and an example of such application.

Objective: To create an antibiogram derived exclusively from our obstetric population and compare the clinical isolates and susceptibilities to our institutional antibiogram.
Methods: Data collected by the University Hospital Clinical Microbiology Laboratory in SSC Soft from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2018 was used to generate our institutional antibiogram. For comparison, we created an obstetric (OB) antibiogram using all clinical isolates collected during the same time interval from OB triage, labor & delivery, antepartum and postpartum wards.
