West Nile Virus (WNV) is an arboviral single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae family. Initial reports of the virus were found in 1937 when the WNV was isolated from a febrile individual from Uganda and later reported from Algeria, West Africa, and the Middle East. Since then, every year cases of WNV infections are emerging and posing a threat to public health.

Er-doped BaF single crystals were investigated with two primary aims: first, to probe the infrared emissions from the I level (around 1.0 μm) under 1500-nm excitation and, second, to use the crystal to enhance the efficiency of silicon-based solar cells through upconversion mechanism. Upon excitation at 1500 nm, the upconversion emission spectrum of the Er-doped BaF single crystals, recorded in the range of 480-1080 nm, exhibited two well-structured visible bands at 538 and 650 nm, along with a strong near infrared emission at 971 nm.

Investigating the fascinating world of natural fibers, where Syagrus romanzoffiana fibers (SrFs) are promising substitutes for glass and synthetic fibers in composite materials, is more than interesting. The improvement of SrFs through an environmentally friendly treatment employing sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) at different concentrations (5 %, 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % by weight) over various durations (24, 72, and 168 h) is the subject of this study. The objective is to provide a sustainable and economical approach to enhancing fiber characteristics.

This study attempted to optimize the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) using particle swarm optimization (PSO) and a genetic algorithm (GA) for calculating occupational risk. Numerous studies have shown that the ANFIS is a good approach for predicting engineering problems. However, it is not well investigated in the area of risk assessment.

Introduction: Gross domestic product (GDP) has been shown to affect government spending on various budget heads including healthcare and the purchase and distribution of vaccines. This vulnerable situation has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted and exposed the fragile nature of equitable access to vaccines for childhood immunisation globally. A systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the association of country income status and GDP with vaccination coverage of vaccines for childhood immunisation and other major infectious diseases around the globe will inform global and national policy on equity in living standards and vaccine uptake.

The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) is commonly used to assess creativity in pupils, but research is limited on its effectiveness in identifying cognitive levels and how factors like gender and brothers count influence creativity. This study investigates the interaction between gender and the number of brothers on creativity as assessed by the (TTCT-Figural: Circles test) among students aged 7 to 13. A cross-sectional study design was employed, involving a sample of 11,636 students, including 5571 males (47.

Gravimetry is the most suitable geophysical method for identifying subsurface cavities in urban or industrial environments, as it is unaffected by nearby electromagnetic disturbances. In this study, we used gravimetric geophysical method to understand the land subsidence, collapses, and fissures observed around the sealed Albian drilling site located in the M'Rara region of Northeast of Algeria. Particularly, we would like study the geological observed phenomena and its potential association with the presence of a cavity within the salt layer.

The rising prevalence of pediatric hepato-pancreato-biliary disorders requires a closer examination of its utility. In this systematic review, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and clinical impact of endoscopic US in the pediatric population, concentrating on its diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic applications.

Background: As one of the most common non-communicable diseases in Africa, Stroke ought to be dealt with properly with intensifying efforts to control its burden and to face obstacles in its management.
Methods And Results: In this follow-up study we reanalyzed stroke services and related obstacles in 17 African countries that were previously studied in 2021/22 in aspects related to manpower, acute stroke services, rehabilitation programs, number of stroke units/centers, telestroke services, awareness campaigns, and national and international stroke registries through a survey that was sent to stroke specialists and national stroke societies. Overall, there is an improvement in many fields yet many obstacles in the implementation of telestroke services, acute management, secondary prevention, post-discharge services, and follow-ups whether governmental, medical, or societal are prevalent.

Following the commodity risk assessment of plants grafted on from China, in which (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) was identified as a pest of possible concern, the European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to conduct a pest categorisation of for the territory of the European Union (EU). The origin of the scale insect is uncertain, with either South America or eastern Asia suggested as the native range. The geographic distribution of the species includes many countries of the continents of Africa, North and South America, Asia and Oceania.

This research investigates a novel approach to modeling an SIR epidemic in a heterogeneous environment by imposing certain restrictions on population mobility. Our study reveals the influence of partially restricting the mobility of the infected population, who are allowed to diffuse locally and can be modeled using random dispersion. In contrast, the non-infective population, which includes susceptible and recovered individuals, has more freedom in their movements.

The first partial skeleton of a carcharodontosaurid theropod was described from the Egyptian Bahariya Oasis by Ernst Stromer in 1931. Stromer referred the specimen to the species Megalosaurus saharicus, originally described on the basis of isolated teeth from slightly older rocks in Algeria, under the new genus name Carcharodontosaurus saharicus. Unfortunately, almost all of the material from the Bahariya Oasis, including the specimen of Carcharodontosaurus was destroyed during World War II.

Prostate cancer ranks among the most prevalent malignancies affecting males globally. This study sought to document the incidence, deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) that were due to prostate cancer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and its 21 countries, from 1990 to 2021. We analysed publicly accessible data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study to present findings on the incidence, deaths, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) associated with prostate cancer.

This study suggests an enhanced version of the adaptive fuzzy fast terminal synergetic controller (AF-FTSC) for controlling the uncertain DC/DC buck converter based on the synergetic theory of control (STC) and newly developed terminal attractor technique (TAT). The benefits of the proposed SC algorithm involve the features of finite-time convergence, unaffected by parameter variations, and chattering-free phenomenon. A type-1 fuzzy logic system (T1-FLS) make the considered controller more robust and is utilized to estimate the undefined converter nonlinear dynamics without resorting to the usual linearization and simplifications of the converter model.

Introduction: Research on the association between blood groups and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in Africa, including Algeria, is notably limited, with a primary focus on blood donors. This narrow scope hinders a comprehensive understanding of the genetic diversity of blood groups and their potential links to CVD risk within the African context. To bridge this knowledge gap, this study proposes to investigate the distribution of blood group genotypes and their association with CVD prevalence, aiming to enhance knowledge within the African context and contribute to global insights into the relationship between blood groups and CVD.
