Objective: In this multicentric study, we were interested in the vision-related quality of life and its association with visual impairment in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) in comparison to multiple sclerosis (MS) and healthy controls.
Methods: We analysed extracted data from the German NEMOS registry including National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (NEI-VFQ) scores, high and low contrast visual acuity (HCVA, LCVA), visually evoked potentials (VEP) and the scores for the expanded disability status scale (EDSS) and other neurological tests which assessed their disease-related impairment. The mean follow-up time of our patients was 1.

: The number of seriously injured elderly patients is continuously rising. Several studies have underlined the benefit of orthogeriatric co-management in treating older patients with a proximal femur fracture. The basis of this orthogeriatric co-management is a certification as a Centre for Geriatric Trauma (ATZ).

Outcomes for hip fracture patients have improved over the years, yet the population of older patients (≥80 years) continues to grow. By 2100, the global centenarian population is projected to exceed 25 million, but data on hip fracture outcomes in this group are rare and often derived from small samples. This study aimed to analyze outcomes for centenarian hip fracture patients in specialized geriatric trauma centers and compare them with those of patients under 80.

Background: Incomplete attack remission is the main cause of disability in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). Apheresis therapies such as plasma exchange and immunoadsorption are widely used in neuroimmunology. Data on apheresis outcomes in MOGAD attacks remain limited.

Background: Moyamoya angiopathy (MMA) is an important cause of juvenile stroke but an overall rare disease among European populations compared with East Asian cohorts. Consecutively, hemorrhagic MMA is described well in East Asian cohorts, but knowledge in non-Asian patients is limited. Literature suggests that disease presentation may vary between those cohorts, also including hemorrhage frequencies.

Background: The role of catheter ablation in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is unclear. Pulsed field ablation (PFA) demonstrates a favorable clinical profile, however, data on elderly patients are lacking.
Aims: We aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of PFA in the elderly, using data from the EU-PORIA registry.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection has long been associated with the development of multiple sclerosis (MS). MS patients have elevated titers of EBV-specific antibodies in serum and show signs of CNS damage only after EBV infection. Regarding CD8+ T-cells, an elevated but ineffective response to EBV was suggested in MS patients, who present with a broader MHC-I-restricted EBV-specific T-cell receptor beta chain (TRB) repertoire compared to controls.

Background: Endovascular embolization is frequently used for vascular lesions of the head and neck. Newer agents may help to enhance visualization and improve treatment outcomes.
Methods: The CLARIDAD clinical trial was a prospective, single center, first-in-man investigation of neurovascular embolization using the novel embolic agent Obtura for a broad indication, covering the need for a liquid embolic agent in head and neck procedures.

Purpose: Intracranial aneurysms present significant health risks, as their rupture leads to subarachnoid haemorrhage, which in turn has high morbidity and mortality rates. There are several elements affecting the complexity of an intracranial aneurysm. However, criteria for defining a complex intracranial aneurysm (CIA) in open surgery and endovascular treatment could differ, and actually there is no consensus on the definition of a "complex" aneurysm.

Unlabelled: A validation of the GeRi-Score on 120-day mortality, the impact of a pre-operative visit by a geriatrician, and timing of surgery on the outcome was conducted. The score has predictive value for 120-day mortality. No advantage was found for surgery within 24 h or a preoperative geriatric visit.

Objective: Informative biomarkers are an urgent need in the management of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Serum cardiac troponin T is elevated in the majority of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients and increases with disease progression. We sought to establish the informative value of cardiac troponin T with regard to respiratory function, a major prognostic factor in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Some vestibular schwannoma (VS) show cystic morphology. It is known that these cystic VS bear different risk profiles compared to solid VS in surgical treatment. Still, there has not been a direct comparative study comparing both SRS and SURGERY effectiveness in cystic VS.

Purpose: Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) is the gold standard in treating severe obesity. Previous research implies that different psychological and behavior-related factors might be critical for MBS' sustained success. Yet adherence to dietary behavior recommendations and its impact on weight development is rarely examined.

Materials And Methods: Data from the Registry for Geriatric Trauma of the German Trauma Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie [DGU]) (ATR-DGU) were analysed.

Introduction: Cauda equina neuroendocrine tumors (CENETs), previously described as cauda equina paragangliomas (PGLs) are rare and well-vascularized benign entities which can be often misdiagnosed with other intradural tumors more common in this anatomical site, such as ependymomas and neurinomas. We describe three cases of CENETs observed at our institution with particular focus on differential diagnosis and postoperative management. Since the lack of guidelines, we performed a literature review to identify factors that can predict recurrence and influence postoperative decision making.
