Objectives: Nearly half of older adults experience somnolence, but the link between medications with somnolence as an adverse effect and somnolence is unclear. This study investigated the association between polypharmacy and somnolence symptoms (excessive sleepiness or long sleep duration).

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder proven to be caused by the aggregation of protein tau into fibrils, resulting in neuronal death. Omadacycline, a tetracycline antibiotic, demonstrates activity against key CF pathogens, substantial lung penetration, and increasing clinical evidence for the treatment of lung infections in people with CF (PwCF). Preliminary data demonstrate that omadacycline exhibits anti-inflammatory activity.

The central nervous system (CNS) is capable of synthesizing steroids for modulating essential functions such as neurotransmission, neuroplasticity, and neuroinflammation. These locally synthesized steroids, called neurosteroids, are produced through the conversion of cholesterol into the major steroid precursor pregnenolone, followed by downstream metabolism to form various steroids such as progesterone and allopregnanolone. Given that changes in neurosteroids are implicated in many neurological and psychiatric disorders, understanding the neurosteroidogenesis pathway is crucial.

There is some evidence that the subjective effects of ketamine and other psychedelics like psilocybin are crucial for their therapeutic outcomes, such as treatment of depression or substance use disorder (SUD). We performed a meta-analysis and systematic review on the correlation of subjective symptoms and dissociation versus ketamine-induced therapeutic outcomes in patients with depression or SUD. A similar analysis was conducted for psilocybin-induced therapeutic improvement.
