Background: The primary goal of conventional endovascular and microvascular approaches is the clinical and radiological resolution of the symptomatic aneurysm-induced mass effect. This study assessed the volume changes and mass effect reduction due to sac shrinkage after treatment with flow diverter stents (FD) for unruptured cerebral aneurysms.
Methods: We analyzed retrospectively 36 symptomatic aneurysms that were larger or equal to 25 mm in diameter in patients treated at our center from January 2016 to April 2022.
Thought to be benign anatomical variants, cerebral infundibular dilatations (ID) are most commonly encountered at the junction of the internal carotid artery (ICA) and the posterior communicating artery (PcomA). The true nature of this entity remains controversial, as some literature reports suggest they should be considered preaneurysmal lesions and a potential source of devastating subarachnoid hemorrhage. This report describes cases of presumably ruptured IDs and their therapeutic endovascular management.

Diagnosis in the early stages of hereditary transthyretin (ATTR) amyloidosis is imperative to support timely treatment to prevent or delay disease progression. Genetic testing in the setting of genetic counselling enables identification of carriers of a TTR gene mutation who are therefore at risk of developing TTR-associated disease. Knowledge of different genotypes and how they manifest in symptomatic disease should facilitate development of a structured and targeted approach to enable diagnosis of symptomatic disease in ATTR amyloidosis mutation carriers on the first manifestation of the earliest detectable sign or symptom.

The 17th International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop (IHIW) organizers conducted a Pilot Study (PS) in which 13 laboratories (15 groups) participated to assess the performance of the various sequencing library preparation protocols, NGS platforms and software in use prior to the workshop. The organizers sent 50 cell lines to each of the 15 groups, scored the 15 independently generated sets of NGS HLA genotyping data, and generated "consensus" HLA genotypes for each of the 50 cell lines. Proficiency Testing (PT) was subsequently organized using four sets of 24 cell lines, selected from 48 of 50 PS cell lines, to validate the quality of NGS HLA typing data from the 34 participating IHIW laboratories.

Background: Radiation-induced injuries to patient skin as a result of fluoroscopy guided interventional procedures are infrequently reported, often misdiagnosed and there is a need to learn lessons from every injury.
Methods: This paper describes two cases of radiation induced skin injuries that are, to the best of our knowledge, the first ever reported cases from Bulgaria and possibly from Eastern Europe, and would thus have educational value.
Results: The important messages from the skin injuries reported here are: lack of awareness among part of the interventional specialists about the potential for radiation induced skin injury, misdiagnosis after injury happened because of lack of awareness and knowledge among general physicians, dermatologists and surgeons who followed up cases of skin injuries; the lack of system to monitor patients with relatively high exposure; the important role played by the medical physicist in diagnosing the injury and overall in initiating actions; the role of training and informational material displayed in interventional facilities.

Background: Precautionary labeling is used to warn consumers of the presence of unintended allergens, but the lack of agreed allergen thresholds can result in confusion and risk taking by patients with food allergy. The lack of data on threshold doses below which subjects are unlikely to react is preventing the development of evidence-based allergen management strategies that are understood by clinician and patient alike.
Objective: We sought to define threshold dose distributions for 5 major allergenic foods in the European population.
