Nifuroxazide (NFX) is an antimicrobial agent that is frequently used as an intestinal antiseptic and recently was proven to have anticancer properties. This work employs the use of nitrogen and sulphur co-doped carbon quantum dots (NSC-dots) luminescent nanoparticles to propose a highly sensitive, sustainable, white and green spectrofluorometric method for NFX detection in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. l-Cysteine and citric acid were the precursors to synthesize water soluble NSC-dots by a quick and environmentally-friendly hydrothermal process.

Selective induction of breast cancer apoptosis is viewed as the mainstay of various ongoing oncology drug discovery programs. Passerini scaffolds have been recently exploited as selective apoptosis inducers a caspase 3/7 dependent pathway. Herein, the optimized Passerini caspase activators were manipulated to synergistically induce P53-dependent apoptosis modulating the closely related P53-MDM2 signaling axis.

Background: A wide range of cardiac arrhythmias were reported in the setting of active infection or as a complication of COVID-19. The main pathophysiology can be attributed to dysautonomia or autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a complex, multisystemic disorder affecting usually younger age with tachycardia at rest or with minimal effort being the main symptom.

Background: An increased heart rate (HR) is deleterious in patients with decompensated heart failure. Ivabradine, an HR lowering agent which acts by inhibiting the I current in the sinoatrial node, is indicated for chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. However, data regarding the safety and efficacy of ivabradine in acute decompensated heart failure is limited.

  • Membranous interventricular septal (MIVS) aneurysm is a rare congenital heart defect that is often found by chance and usually doesn’t show symptoms.* -
  • This condition involves a bulge in the membrane between the heart's ventricles and can lead to complications such as right ventricular obstruction and potential rupture.* -
  • Other possible issues related to MIVS aneurysm include the risk of blood clots (thromboembolism) and problems with heart rhythm (conduction abnormalities).*

The widespread use of computed tomography (CT) has increased the incidence of small renal cell masses. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of the angular interface sign (ice cream cone sign) to differentiate a broad spectrum of small renal masses using CT. The prospective study included CT images of patients with exophytic renal masses ≤ 4 cm in maximal dimension.
