A microwave-assisted method was utilized to synthesize novel pyranoquinolone derivatives as dual acting topoisomerase II/DNA gyrase inhibitors with apoptosis induction ability for halting lung cancer and staphylococcal infection. Herein, the designed rationale was directed toward mimicking the structural features of both topoisomerase II and DNA gyrase inhibitors as well as endowing them with apoptosis induction potential. A novel series of azo dyes was successfully synthesized by combining amino benzoic acid and amino phenol on the same molecular framework azo linkage. The structural elucidation of these dyes was carried out using various spectroscopic techniques, including UV-vis, FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy, and HRMS. Surprisingly, the aromatic proton in some dyes exhibited exchangeability in DO, prompting a 2D NMR analysis to confirm this phenomenon.

Method: Twenty-seven rats were randomized into nine groups of three rats as follows; group 1 was the normal (non-induced) group, 2-9 were anemic rats administered 1 mL distilled water, standard drug (3 mg/kg body weight (bw) ferrous sulphate), 100, 300 and 500 mg/kg bw of crude methanolic extract of CP (CMECP) of the leaf and 100, 300 and 500 mg/kg bw of CMECP of the seed respectively in the first stage of the study.
