Tuberculosis (TB) is a great public health problem in developing countries such as Egypt. Genotyping of isolates has a prominent role in the field of TB prevention. This study aimed to evaluate real-time PCR using Minor Groove Binder (MGB) probes and to identify circulating lineages/sub-lineages of and their transmission patterns.

We aim to discuss the efficacy and adverse effects of using ketamine in agitated patients in the emergency department (ED) compared with the combination therapy of haloperidol with benzodiazepine. This systematic review followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. An electronic search from PubMed/Medline, Cochrane library, and Google Scholar was conducted from their inception to 30 April 2022.

Background: To date (14 January 2022), the incidence and related mortality rate of COVID-19 in America, Europe, and Asia despite administrated of billions doses of many approved vaccines are still higher than in Egypt. Epigenetic alterations mediate the effects of environmental factors on the regulation of genetic material causing many diseases.
Objective: We aimed to explore the methylation status of HeyL promoter, a downstream transcription factor in Notch signal, an important regulator of cell proliferation and differentiation blood, pulmonary epithelial, and nerves cells.

Background And Objectives: Immunocompromised patients are a high-risk group for developing mycobacterial infections with either pulmonary and/or extrapulmonary diseases. Low-cost/density DNA-microarray is considered an easy and efficient method for the detection of typical and atypical mycobacterial species.
Materials And Methods: Thirty immunocompromised patients were recruited to provide their clinical specimens (sputum, serum, urine, and lymph node aspirates).

Aims: We aimed to investigate the serum level of heart type fatty acid binding protein (H-FABP) and its relation to left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and early diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
Methods: This study was conducted on 100 T2DM patients divided into 50 patients with early DKD and 50 patients without DKD. Doppler echocardiography was used to assess LV function and serum H-FABP levels were measured using ELISA technique.

Background And Objective: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the most identified cause of death in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding Vildagliptin versus Glimepiride to ongoing Metformin on the biomarkers of inflammation, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis in T2DM patients with symptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: This study included 80 patients with uncontrolled T2DM and symptomatic CAD who were randomized to add either Vildagliptin 50 mg/day "group I" or Glimepiride 4 mg/day "group II" to ongoing Metformin therapy (1000 mg/day).

Despite all the advances in the management of breast cancer (BC), patients with distance metastasis are still considered incurable with poor prognosis. For that reason, early detection of the metastatic lesions is crucial to improve patients' life span as well as quality of life. Many markers were proposed to be used as biomarkers for metastatic BC lesions, however many of them lack organ specificity.

Polymorphisms of Toll-like receptor 4 () as a key player in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis have been linked to colorectal cancer (CRC) in different populations. We aimed in this study to determine genetic associations of TLR4 variants with CRC progression in Egyptian patients. Genotype and allelic frequencies of Asp299Gly (rs4986790) and Thr399Ile (rs4986791) were compared between 127 CRC patients and 141 healthy Egyptians using restriction fragment length polymorphism, and were correlated to clinicopathological findings.

We aimed in this study to investigate a possible involvement of Th17/Treg cells imbalance in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Using flowcytometry to determine circulating Th17 and Treg cells percentages, RT- PCR and ELISA for cytokine expression, we demonstrated that Th17/Treg balance in ASD children was significantly skewed toward a Th17 response compared to their control. Th17 cells and the ratio of Th17/Treg cells had a significantly positive correlation with disease severity whereas Treg cells had a negative correlation.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe average nasal anthropometric measurements for young Egyptian males by using the Rhinobase software.
Materials And Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving the evaluation of facial photographs. Frontal, right lateral and basal photographs for 300 healthy adult male Egyptian volunteers (n = 300) were taken; then, the photos were edited using Rhinobase Software and CorelDraw graphics (2017) software.

Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder which remains a significant cause of morbidity. Recently, it has been reported that the stem cell factor (SCF) and interleukin-31 (IL-31) may play a major role in bronchial asthma. The aim of the current study was to study the association of the stem cell factor and interleukin-31 expression with serum immunoglobulin E among Egyptian patients with atopic and nonatopic bronchial asthma.
